Jesus Christ, these new Peanuts specials are always so sentimental, "life-affirming" and bland. There is never a hint of the cynical edge of Schulz original works. You watch these new specials and once the conflict is set up you know immediately how it's going to be resolved. In Schulz original work, whether we're talking the comic strip of the animated productions, you sat there wondering whether the resolution to a storyline world be happy, or whether it would be sad in darkly humorous way. Schulz alternated between the two, giving his work a sense of realism that almost no cartoons had back then and very few have to this day. In these new specials however the ending is AWLAYS happy, and often in the most supposed-to-be-tear-jerking way possible without even a hint of comedy to the scenario. The only reason to watch these new specials is due to a previous attachment to these characters, not because of anything interesting being done with those characters.

growing up with charlie brown and gang is now woke. No thanks cannot recommend or ever let any kids watch these remakes. Glad I own all the classic charlie brown movies /specials on bluray
