@Link it's the safety rail that wraps around that keeps you in the platform. Often need to stand on it to reach just a bit further.

@bcrusher1979 Жыл бұрын
I'm not bad with heights, but the part that makes me nervous is the unpacked and uneven ground on construction sites. The lift will let you know when it's unsafe supposedly, but when your up 80-100 feet and the lift is not level you can feel it in the basket just how much it is leaning. Exciting non the less I love it!!

@@bcrusher1979 They do have safety features that stop you from doing stupid stuff but my first time on a lift I got subbed out to another company. The crazy fucker operating was moving the wheels while we were fully extended over rough terrain. I was like "WTF are you doing take me down" I checked inside of the machine and these idiots disabled the tilt alarm. He said they disabled it because they were sick of hearing the tilt alarm going off and stopping the machine. I walked off the job and gave my boss shit for sending me with those muppets. I found out later on that the owner of that company bought that gene lift and painted it all black to hide how rusty the machine actually was.

the foot print of these lifts never seem to reach wide enough for them not to tip over …..in my head. the fact that they do reach so far gives me the impression that the base should be much much wider, and also have a massive counterweight. this must come from the fear of being that far into the sky on just a boom. i don’t mind heights, but these lifts make me very nervous, even thou they are safe. congratulations on your accomplishment !

They do have a counterweight on them. You gotta think that base must be super heavy to support you and the heavy arms so far from center of gravity. I use these lifts all the time, I have no fear of heights, but I can totally see someone getting freaked out by them. You don’t even have to be that high for them to start swaying.

man, I work on boomlift everyday, mostly 66ft and 86ft ones, but sometimes 125ft or even 150ft ones.. I hate when I fully extend the boom and then slew to one side and you see the boom swinging like it's rubber.. or when you're fully extended and angled low like 40° or lower and you see the boom making an arc.. really scary..

Whats the maximum boom tilt at full extension?? How far can it boom out ground level?
@jonathanmcadams-nx5zp Жыл бұрын
So i had a 18 foot time two snorkel which would extend to like 41feet total with two 18 foot booms and the five feet it was already above the ground. I was shaking when i was fully extended. It did not have extendable foot stabilizers on it for some odd reason but i believe some just dont have them if i remeber correctly. It was scary stuff. I cant imagine this thing. Wow. I think if carbon fober was used and they had a way to attach to the ground it would be able to go farther. I wonder if you would make an adhesive type stabilizer for the bottom to attach to concrete temporarily that would extend the amount of reach and height you could do. Also just because you can go high doesnt mean you can reach put far. That is when you really need to be secured to the ground. If you are on grass you could screw in with a corkscrew type decice on both sides like 6 or 8 feet and really go high and far. Or on concrete you could make an instant epoxy that you could glue down a plate with a ring to buckle the lift down hard. But then you have to pry it back up and grind the epoxy off and fix concrete. I qonder if they could make a vacuuming suction device like a very large surface area plunger that sucks and it holds the damn thing down. Or if on dirt maybe just like i said corkscrews would be best or just spikes that dig into the grass and dirt. Honestly just making the thing extend up to 20 feet outwards on each wheel so the wheelbase is like 40 feet wide olu the original wheelbase and 55 feet long with the original 15 foot wheel base front to rear but you also go out at an angle so the measurements would be a bit different than that. Just make each wheel have a boom that goes diagnol in direction and extends like 15 feet, then make the booms out of carbon fiber and then put a saftey measure on the boom that is like four really long carbon fiber extendable booms that are very thin that go all the way from the middle of the boom when fully extended and touch the ground on all 4 sides so it literally can jot fall if it wanted to. Kind of like a teepee. Make the boom automatically extend the thinner support booms when it gets to a certain doatance and they stop when they are 45 defrees and hit the ground. Then you could use the damn thing as a crane if you wanted to and install a small crane up p on the bucket. You could probably lift a thousand pounds easy if the boom was only 30 feet and made of carbon fiber and more if you incorporate more supports in this manner for the crane. I could build one that i capable of a lot. I need paper and a pen and about 5 million like these guys had and 🤯 BOOM.
