Grew up there 1980-1992 and still have wonderful memories of that beach.

Really beautiful video. A great representation of the marine life. Last saw some of this in 1970. Thanks for taking me back to being 13 and snorkeling iñ many of the same areas!

Going in 10 days! Will be spending most of the time on Roi, hoping to get some snorkeling time in while there for 3 weeks! Any recommendations for Roi?

There are Roi rapids and some decent stuff on the southern part of the island. Enjoy!

Kwaj 2016-2020. Avid snorkler. So good to see this! I lived in "new housing" right there at Emon. Now torn down. Look fwd to more videos, especially the tidal pools.

Thanks! What should I be sure to cover when it comes to the tidal pools?
@maryhaynes75806 ай бұрын
@AdventuresinAviators just the diversity bwtn each one, in coral & species seen. Lion fish, fire coral, to staghorn coral & needle fish. You never know what's been caught in them after the tide rolls out. The tide rolling in over you is beautiful. Time is limited in them according to the tide. History of how they were formed.

Ralph Meacham and I did a nighttime walk-in dive off of Emon Beach once in about 1972. When he was leading he had a natural turn to the left and we ended up back on the beach. When I was in the lead, I had a natural turn to the right and again we ended up on the beach. Nevertheless, we saw some things like lobsters and shrimp that you never see in the daytime.

What did you enjoy most about the tide pools?

@@AdventuresinAviators I had aquariums in every room of the house. That’s where I caught a good deal of my fish for them. It’s where I could always find the juvenile emperor angels too which were always my favorite. Did a lot of diving as well on the ocean side from different islands.
