In this video we explain and showcase some of the best reefs to snorkel at when visiting Key Largo. We show you where the reefs are located and the marine life to expect. Both beautiful fish and corals can be discovered in this area.
The locations we tell you about are as follows:
1. John Pennekamp
2. White Banks Dry Rocks
3. Grecian Rocks
4. Molasses Reef
5. The Elbow
6. Snapper Ledge
7. Sea Gardens (also known as Mosquito Bank)
Snorkeling directly from the beach is not as great as taking a boat trip to one of the reefs. Sure, you can snorkel off the beach at John Pennekamp and you'll be able to meet some fish. However, if you prefer corals and a more variety of marine life, consider to take a tour.
Snorkeling in Key Largo can be a wonderful experience. If you know where to go and what to expect, chances are you won't be disappointed. Especially if you do so on a sunny day.
If you like underwater excitement, both the Christ of the Abyss and the shipwreck are worth to check out. The statue is located at White Banks Dry Rock and the wreck at Elbow Reef. However, if you don't manage to visit these locations, don't worry. The surrounding reefs offer appealing fish and corals to look at.
If you prefer corals above fish, we'd suggest to visit Sea Gardens. Sure, there are fish to observe in this spot as well, but the corals are definitely exciting. How about finger coral? And all the fish that enjoy to be surrounded by them? Well, you might just found your little underwater paradise.
