Thanks for the snow foam cannon shootout. You have a very good on-screen persona. (1) However, you haven't controlled the variables for your comparison. The only unbiased way to compare the three different cannons is to use the same Karcher pressure washer with each (you did), the identical foaming agent for each cannon (you didn't), and the same ratio of water to foaming solution for each (you didn't). (2) Is the stability of a cannon really so important? They'll all be stable when you're using them. (3) The size of the bottle opening, or the transparency of the plastic, or some sort of volume markings on the outside surface might be more relevant for somebody trying to mix the correct proportions of foaming solution and water. (4) You focused on the foam "dwell time" but that is not necessarily a measure of cleaning effectiveness. (5) Each cannon has an adjustable knob on top to vary the air being drawn into the mix. It would be fairer to find the optimum air opening for each individual cannon in order to allow it to produce its best foam. (6) A worthwhile follow-up might be to compare the effectiveness of the three different foaming solutions by using the same Karcher pressure washer, the same cannon, and the same ratio of solution to water for each of the foaming solutions tested.

Honestly, it's not an unbiased review, he mentions at the start that he's supported by Bowden's Own. This video is a bit of a farce imo, the testing is incredibly bad and isn't impartial at all.

Heading, "Repco vs Mequiers vs Bowden" Intro, " I'd like to thank Dan Bowden." Any soap makes water "thinner" lowers waters viscosity. Theoretically, soapy water penetrates the adhesion of the dirt to the paint then as it "turns to water" the run off dislodges the dirt, making it easier to clean away with a pressure washer. So don't get to hung up on the fact that it turns to water and runs off. Also, what adjustments were made to the cannon itself via that little adjustment knob on top?

You should do a review of the different results with different foam solutions in the Bowden’s snow blow cannon. I just used some meguiars gold class car wash. I used the Bowden’s bottle for ratio. I’m quite impressed with the level of foam I got.

Were you testing cannons or Cannon/Product combination. How would the different shampoos go in each cannon. ie, Bowden's Snow Job in Maguire's Cannon or the Gold Class in Repco's cannon. I think any difference in a cannon face-off would be easier to identify any performance issues.
@omegadetailing57354 жыл бұрын
Cannon/Product combination as was made clear in the video. My ultimate snow foam showdown shows what the eclipse cannon can do. Gold glass is a trash shampoo for foaming.

Agree with the assessment on the Megueirs hopeless snow cannon. The Karcher connector is hard to get on and just everything else just does not cut it.
@zagan13 жыл бұрын
The meguires looks the best. You don't want heaps of foam as it sucks washing it off the car and it can leave a coat of soap over the car, which screws up the car wash section. Having too much foam can make it take too long to run off and leaves heaps of dirt runs on the bottom of panels.
@omegadetailing57353 жыл бұрын
I strongly disagree with you. Dwell time is important to soak and break down hard dirt, much like when you wash your dishes you leave them to soak first for hard dirt. Allowing that hard dirt to break down means there isn’t as much hard dirt on the contact wash phase which means there’s less paint scratching. Happy to explain anything further mate.

None of them were thick in any way IMO, if you want thick foam, akin to shaving cream, then as you mentioned, change to a 1.1mm orifice. I have a little K2 pressure washer like yours, and after replacing the orifice in my $25 ebay generic foam cannon that's five years old, it transformed my foam from runny crap that you had with all three cannons, to thick lush foam. Amazing that it only cost about $10 on eBay. Also let's face it, gold class is a great carwash .... Not a snow foam, Meguires have made a big mistake selling it with a foam cannon.
@omegadetailing57354 жыл бұрын
Ken Lawton I agree with gold class. I’ve tested the Cannon since and it’s decent. I’ll grab a few orifices and test them out. Thanks for the input.

Are the orifices interchangeable on all the snow foam guns ? I see you said there available on ebay ?
@omegadetailing57353 жыл бұрын
@@jeffsmith4384 to my knowledge they are. It turns out my pressure washer was lacking btw. A new pressure washer changed everything. Stay tuned.

Did you shake each one prior to use? Because it doesn't look like it at all, especially with the problems you encountered is when you don't shake it. Also the Ozito even provides more flow rate (that's why I passed on the low end models of the well known brands) But I do agree with Peter B on his comments as well.
@xerxesachaemenid525011 ай бұрын
It didn't show whether you adjusted the cannons correctly, or at all to adjust the ratio of water so it looks like you just used them straight out of the box. Because I know both the Meguiars and Bowdens ones can do thicker foam, but the Bowdens foam looked just as runny as the Meguiars. It would have been good to just use the one washing liquid in the 3 different cannons for an accurate assessment.

Bleed your k2 with the power off for about 2mins then shove your cannon on and turn the power on, crazy thick foam. Ps where have you been mate keen on more reviews and videos 🧡

I’ve got the repco snow cannon but don’t use the bottle. I’ve got a long tube going to a 20L backpack and a 3400psi pressure washer and it makes a tonne of foam. I use it to wash houses so I don’t use snow mix in it but I do have some stuff that makes much better foam than any of the ones you’re testing.

Hey mate great video. Have needed a comparison like this for the Aussie market for a long time. Got a question, So it seems to me that you recommend the Bowden's combination of snow cannon and snow job as the best at producing thick foam. How much do you think that's down to the cannon or is it down to the product? (Ie: Bowden's snow job vs eclipse hyperfoam) Could be an interesting follow up to this video using Bowden's Snow job for both the eclipse cannon and the Bowden's cannon or conversely using the Bowden's snow job for both cannons to truly find out if the difference is in the cannon or the product. I think we can safely throw Meguiar's in the bin. I currently have that and have a Ryobi pressure washer which came with its own filmsy snow cannon. That together with the Meguiar's has produced terrible foam and I've been pretty unimpressed. I was thinking maybe the Ryobi filmsy cannon was not good enough but it seems like Meguiar's is the limiting factor. I'm gonna grab hyperfoam or snow job tomorrow and use it with the Ryobi cannon and see if the cannon needs replacing too

Was going to buy a Meguiars, decided to get the Repco one (glad I did!). Was a while back. Can't say I have any complains (comes with a whole bunch of adapters as well, and did the trick for me). It does the job and it makes really decent foam once you get it all tuned in - pressure does make a diff.
@MrKevmeister683 жыл бұрын
I bought the Bowdens cannon to try out the snow foam craze but my main gripe is how to get the karcher adapter locked onto the jet (brass thread) properly? The adapter has no hex nut or anything to tighten it, and because the karcher fitting is push and twist, the whole adapter just started turning. Extremely frustrating. Left me wondering if I could be bothered with the hassle.

I find this video funny because you say your a detailing company and your using a shit $129 Bunnings special k2 pressure washer with no water pressure by the looks of it of course they arnt going to foam!…. I use the Chem bros big mouth with a tool pro 6.5kw petrol pressure washer with a 25m hose using chemtech ct18 super foam on my semi and I don’t even need to scrub it down just foam and pressure wash it off and it’s the best by far compared to any thing else
@raelbelterman12333 жыл бұрын
I am not sure it is the water flow, but more the pressure. I think the pressure needs to be noted when using/buying foam. Bowen's lists the required pressure on their bottle.
@raelbelterman12333 жыл бұрын
But, as a comparison of cannons using the K2 (under pressured for the Bowen's), it is a good test. Ch
