Yeah I would recommend the front as well. I have run several sets of those Humvee 37's, love them there are almost indestructible, and they work well with chains. The ones we got from auction here in Alaska had lots of chain time on them, quite a bit of chain wear, and we still got tons of life out of them. We ran them deep into moose country, and used chains on all four. Pulled some rigs out of the ditch in winter time as well with chains on them. Having the chains on the front makes a huge difference, both in forward/reverse traction and in steering and braking as well. Still have mine.... Oh yeah, a Spartan locker up front would be a awesome help too :) its just money right? lol

I'm sure you know this already but if you look at your tracks the chains are going to dig a hole an the inner tires going to just sit on top of the snow holding the chains up from digging down any further so yes they will help on ice but in deep snow they're almost holding you back. They look sweet on your truck though. I thank you for the videos.

recoveryteam & that is why I did not say put another set of chains on the other tires in the rear because I New there was limited space between tire & leaf springs!! That is why I say put a set of chains on front & a locker up front!! You will be surprised at how many people don’t realize how much an open front & a locked rear end can hurt a person in the snow!! You lock the front & it usually will pull the rearend were it needs to go!! I do no this from several winter storms where I was going every where where others would be in the ditches & I would have to pull them out!! Every one I had to pull out would end up asking me how I was getting around so well in the deep snow with ice under neith the snow!! I told them the truth as long as I could keep my front end going the way I wanted it to I had absolutely no problems at all!! I have even showed mud racers the advantages of just having a front axel locked up at how well they could really do!! But every one says just put a locker in the rear & you will do just fine but then the rear of the vehicle is pushing your front end around all over the place!! I guess it definitely works for me but maybe not every one!! I just say give it a try & I promise you you won’t be pissed about it for sure!!

I use the same board trick for singles. Just cut the board so it fits width ways. Then lay the chain out on the ground and put the block down. Now drive over the chain up on the block. Gives you the slack you need.

Another set for the front will help, but with the back only chained on one tire, it won't dig. I seen you said not enough room for the inner tire to get chained. Put what you have on the front and it will dig down and throw some dirt up so the rears have traction too. I have broke a lot of trail, and chained the front if I only had one set.
@Ezrider3595 жыл бұрын
the problem with singles on duals is once you spin and that chain throws the ice out from under it all the weight is just resting on the inside tire and the chain is in the breeze. back when i was hauling in the oilfeild if you needed chains 3 railers were the only way to go unless you just needed a tiny bit of help to get out.

I drive a little front wheel drive 4 banger every winter alls i do is let a 15-20 psi outa my front tires and nothing stops me. i go through a foot of snow like its nothing. ive lost count how many 4x4's ive driven by in the winter even with their 4 wheel drive engaged, oh ive also go about 400 lbs in my trunk a stereo system which adds even more weight ive gotta pull in the winter. still never once been stuck or slid off road.
