Snow Day with the G85 and Mavic

Its has snowed a lot. Did some work, had some fun... :).
Filmed with my Panasonic G85 and got the Mavic out today in a snow storm.

We have not had that much snow in probably 20 years, I don't think I can remember a time in southern bc being so cold and snowy for such a long period of time...

Do you happen to remember what the temperature was back on that day...and about how long your Lumix G85 was exposed to those temps? I'm shopping those, and curious what sustained low temps a person can record videos during. Thanks

Cheb Ornek I think it was around minus 4 or minus 5 degrees celsius.

Did you use any external microphone on G85 in the snow and the weathersealing in the G85 is okay for the camera?

Yes, I used the rode videomic with the Panasonic G85. I have not had any issues with moisture getting into the unit. I know the mic port is exposed when the external mic is connected but seems to be sealed pretty well when the plug is inserted. I had it dripping with water as the snow melted when I brought it inside.

I'm looking at using my Mavic + G85 (w/rode mic) to do some filming, your vids helped... (thanks) any suggested accessories for the G85 other than the rode mic?

Chris W extra batteries. I do pretty good with the one that came with the camera and a 2 pack of generics off eBay. enough power for what I'm doing.

Havin'Fun, good to know, I bought a kit with 2 extra batteries so hopefully that will be enough. Love how you paired the Mavic with the G85... great minds think alike lol

Havin'Fun, you ever get any interference on the G85 audio caused by the Mavic? I filmed two days ago and noticed some major interference on my external mic (Rode - Video Mic Go)... I'm assuming it was the Mavic, maybe my phone, gonna do some additional testing.

hmm no, nothing that I have noticed. Maybe check the connection closest the the microphone to make sure the cable is in good working order. I don't have the video mic go, I have the one between that and the video mic pro... at least i think its between. I have a battery in mine to amplify the sound so not sure if there are filters built in to give better audio. If you can hook that up to some amplified computer speakers or hook it to a stereo mic port, you will hear the audio live and determine if it is interference or the microphone itself. I have been through the trials and errors of the microphones... I tried the Video mic me, with doesn't have a battery and I do remember even on my phone (Samsung S6) getting a weird buzzing sound, so quickly ditched that.... Then I tried the Sony ECM-AW4 which is a blue tooth wireless system, which does work, but I find sometimes you may walk out of range or whatever and then you lose audio. I finally bit the bullet (not that its expensive, but all of the other failed items made another thing to try) and got this one www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/917425-REG/rode_videomic_r_videomic_with_rycote_lyre.html This solved all my audio issues.

Mychal Simmons yes i like the heat and sun.. hawaii is my favorite place. I actually just moved more north... guuulp... less rain at least... but gets much colder where i am now! Thanks for watching!
