Avy conditions will be getting very bad. The number of people I talked to last year that had no idea a road could close for avalanches was absolutely hilarious 😂... to me at least. They were stuck there needing to get back to Denver, I wasn't. Welcome to the mountains, plan accordingly.

Flagstaff , AZ , is bone dry since beginning of November., our ski season is toasted so far,, both big holiday breaks an town has been empty. I can’t recall when both holidays saw no snow.. everything is staying north. It’s pretty scary , today the sun is beating down , feels like the low desert in many ways. However, the city has allowed many many acres of forest to be demolished and housing . Lots of housing built. We don’t have roads for the increase of cars, we don’t have markets to food shop. Flagstaff has lost a lot of charm,, maybe more to locals who we see the changes and there’s nothing charming about it. The Ski Resort, Snowbowl , took out hmm, 3 acres of prime Aspen trees ,, it was the most beautiful area and it brought folks from Phoenix and elsewhere up just to sit in the Aspen Forest. The Ski Resort owned that lane , it was next to a baby ski run,, they added another 2 beginners ski runs. During this construction they took away access to the best and easiest way unto the Humphreys Trail, Now people have to walk at a 30 degree angle up a steep part of the mountain to get to another entrance into the trail. It’s the saddest change and heartbreaking. And now this , no. Snow , none at Thanksgiving or Xmas,, or New Years. Some of my sisters n brothers , Navajo say it’s the Mountain ,, instant Karma for more damage to the Mountain. Enjoy the Snow Colorado.. it’s hard to say if Flagstaff will get Snow right now., it feels scary.

Colorado might be getting snow but it's been feast or famine. The backcountry is toast because the long breaks between storms has made for horrible avalanche conditions. As far as the development thing goes Colorado is absolutely keeping pace. Growth at any cost is the motto it seems. Idaho and Utah have it bad too....wonder were it's all coming from 🤔

@danb.709 Avalanches are so frightening. We had a late start to Winter 2023/ 2024. Some at Thanksgiving, none at Xmas but it started at 1st of January. It went late but we had storms, melt , n only a few continuous days. Our Monsoon Rains only went off with a bang at night. Huge violent storms...but we didn't have big storms during day or in general. It felt like a big change and now this. The scientists say the planet has shifted its axis. That would affect weather...everything..that's been going on since forever I'd bet but in our time I think it was noticed in 2011.. having lived 7 decades and seeing the weather and my world change I feel like it's us the humans, destroying the planet and each other. If that's truth then it's coming ten-fold to us. All the chances n years the big power companies n power people ...they are power addicts and they gather up the $ that won't mean a thing for them or their families in the end. Thx for sharing what's really happening where you are. Media focuses on Aspen n how the snow faires make it a beautiful special winter for the special people. I have friends in Colorado Springs. 2025 is here and I'm trying to get my own tattered life in order. The problems we have in the world didn't start 4 years ago.. it's not so simple to point at any of these boogie men n ladies. It's much deeper , corrupt than that.. people don't read history. They follow the dribble on the internet. I'll leave it at that. I appreciate all you shared.
