Let's visit another great snow hike over at Heather Lake which is part of the North Cascades in Washington State.
Heather Lake is a pretty popular hike that many people come to visit primarily because it's a beginner friendly snow hike that many people can do in the wintertime! The trailhead getting to Heather Lake can be a little challenging due to the number of potholes on the road, but a regular sized vehicle should be able to make it to the parking area.
Heather Lake is a 4.2-mile round trip hike with an elevation gain of about 1200ft. It should take the average hiker about 1.5 - 2 hours to get to the lake itself.
As far as equipment is concerned, you'll likely just need some micro spikes in some parts of the trailhead, however a majority of Heather Lake can be hiked with just normal shoes with some good traction.
So, if you're looking for a beginner friendly winter hike with some beautiful, majestic views, come check out Heather Lake and enjoy!

Heather Lake is fantastic in the snow. To anyone who goes, it's even better in the late fall. The colors the lake and surrounding trees provide when you get to the top make the hike worth it. Plus, it's not too hard either, so pretty much anybody can do it. Great video!

I'm gonna have to come back and check it out then. I've always wanted to visit Mt Pilchuck as well, but I heard the roads there are just gruesome and definitely will be needing a high clearance vehicle for that drive up
