Snow leopards are known as the “ghost of the mountains” because of their solitary and elusive nature. However, here we have a female with her two offspring.
Usually females raise their cubs until they're about 18 months, when they become able to live on their own.
In this scenario, female and cubs are seen together climbing the cold and arid rocky walls of the Himalayan mountains.
A regular day in this female's life is actually a quite important life lesson for her cubs who need to learn how to be flawless if they want to have a chance to survive and breed, in the future.
Known throughout the world for its beautiful fur and elusive behaviour, the endangered snow leopard (Panthera uncia) is found in the rugged mountains of Central Asia.
They are found in 12 countries-including China, Bhutan, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Russia, and Mongolia.
These cats are capable of killing prey up to three times their own weight. They eat blue sheep, Argali wild sheep, ibex, marmots, pikas, deer and other small mammals.
If their natural prey becomes harder to find, snow leopards can be forced to move a bit further and kill livestock for survival. Often, farmers try to vengeance their losses by hunting down snow leopards.
More informations about this big cat can be found on: www.worldwildlife.org
