When my wife was dying of cancer, we used to lay on our bed listening to this and other songs which we had memories attached to. Few weeks later she went into a hospice and 27 days later she died. Now I lay here thinking and thinking and hoping that there is an afterlife - and we find each other there. RIP Honey. Love you always xxx

My brother took his own life his 17 years ago and this was one of the songs at his funeral, though I've never listen to it in full until now. I was only 12 at the time and he was 23 so I always thought he was so much older than he was. Now at 28, I realise how young he really was and wish that I had the opportunity to speak to him, let him know he was loved and that it wasn't the only option. Maybe we'll laugh about it together in the afterlife, but I'm always thinking about you Mark.

When I bought my first home with my now ex wife we were madly in love. The chorus of this song was in cursive letters above where the bed sits in the room. We left it for almost a year before removing and painting. The love faded and we went our own ways and the house was sold. I still listen to this song and vividly remember seeing her laying in bed and looking up and seeing those lyrics. It hurts unbelievable bad that it went away but feels great to know I could experience that level of love. I’ll never stop loving you Cathleen.

So unbelievably blessed to someone who said yes to the question, will you lay here? When I struggle, when I'm down, when life is hard and doesn't make sense....."all that I am, all that I ever was, is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see". Amazing how this woman makes everything come into complete focus. I hope and pray that everyone finds their person that answers yes. Have a blast just chasing cars......

This song ambushed me… I had picked up the ashes of Maria my wife of thirty two years, mother of our two beautiful children. I pulled into our driveway and before I turned off the engine this song came on. Sure, I heard it before, lovely sounding but never meant much to me. I suppose I didn’t understand what it was about. Boy oh boy, did it ever make sense now, all the sense in the world. I sat in the car trying to sing along between sobs and tears. I feel like no other song ever meant so much to me. Made me wish we could have listened to its beauty while we were holding each other. I love you Maria (it’s not enough) , thank you Snow Patrol.

We will see each other again...another lesson in patience. Seems like your learned the LOVE EACH OTHER AS YOURSELF part! I have lots of loved ones waiting for me....Hurry UP....not...I have a lot to learn at 61 as of today. I though an open heart surgery at 13 MO would have killed me and another one in 2009 and a grand mal seizure would have done me in ...but loving and not judging....takes a long time.

As a younger man, I would listen to this song when I found myself sad and alone. Wishing I could have someone to chase cars with. Here I am, 16 years later with the love of my life and two dogs who I love dearly. I come back to this song now and the last few lines which say “all that I am. All that I ever was, is here in your perfect eyes. They’re all I can see” finally clicks. I get it now. I look around at my life and see the love, the support and the happiness I’ve created for myself and that which I can give to others. This is my legacy. This is why I do it. Much like another line in the song, when you find the right person, place or state of mind, you are shown the garden that’s bursting into life. Keep going. You’ll find it someday.

When I fell in love with my wife 17 years ago, I could only listen to this song. Every time I hear it, I remember all the feelings from that time. We are together today, and always.

I don't mean to add to the list of sad stories here, but I wish there was a way to thank Snow Patrol for such a beautiful song. My fiancee and I would always send each other songs that try to explain how we felt about each other. This was the song we danced to a prom that stayed with me to this day. It's because of the lyrics "All that I am, all that I ever was, is here in your perfect eyes. They're all that I can see." Every time I hear that, I can remember, in that blue dress, staring into her eyes, as she stared and smiled with that beautiful smile back at me. And like the song suggests, even though I know there were other people there, my memory is only of her. I lost her to breast cancer 4 years ago at the age of 23, but every time I hear this song, I am brought back to happier days. So I wish I could thank them for writing such a beautiful ballad. Who knew such lyrics could have such a strong effect on so many people.

We played this song at my little brothers funeral. I can't stop listening to it because I lost my brother at six months old to sids. My family was devastated. .my dad became a drunk and tried to kill me because he blamed me for his death even though it wasn't my fault. If they wouldn't have made this song I do t know what I would do to remember him and the good times that we had.
