I wish I'd taken videos of my father before he'd gone. You never really think of those things, in the moment, until time passes and you become so pensive about how you taken for granted something that seemed so small. Time is definitely nothing to take for granted. Something that's said many times but the message never sinks in until time does what it does.

Great song, great songwriting. I am thankful that Gary fought his demons and made it to the other side. I am grateful that Gary has blessed us with another great album. This song hits close to home, lost my Dad in 2017 and I miss him every single day.. 💔.

I just came Back to this song after hearing that Gary Lightbody lost his dad to dementia days before Christmas :( this is incredible sad 😔 but the song is at the same time so powerful that touches my soul and makes me want to hug my father.

Gary' Lightbodys FATHER Jack Lightbody, just passed away this past December 2019 from Dementia :( The real Reason why the Father was Finally featured in a Snow Patrol Music Video, was because, Gary asked for it, and he wanted this to happen because he somehow Knew that his father Jack wasn't gonna live much longer.

Mine died when I was 18 months old. My mother never remarried so I’ve never know feelings for a father. My mother was a strong person and I think her choice was the right one. I’m married now and if that ever changes I will not marry again.
