@@ChasingGreen absolutely 💯, I'd be on the way to get a layout or a frame for that no doubt. I'll prolly need to make or buy one this year with such little water! Water line Prolly end up being 50yrds from the nearest tree or brush this season!

I’m 52 and my dad started taking me to the flooded timber when I was 7 or 8 years old. I luckily got to experience the “good ole days”. Lots of mallards and very little hunting pressure. We NEVER had an issue with other hunters. These were the days of ethics and respectfulness from all hunters. Nobody was tree topping the ducks you were working. The mentality was, “oh well they got this bunch maybe we will get the next one.” I haven’t stepped foot in the bottoms in 3 years now, which breaks my heart. Not only is there a hunter by every tree, but it’s a hunter that WILL shoot them on the swing. Scouting doesn’t exist anymore. It’s just listen for the shooting and go to it. Yes it’s public ground free for all to come and hunt, BUT, there should be some respect and ethics. It’s gotten so bad in my part of the world that I would not take a young hunter to the woods for fear of what they might hear, or see. Sad part is I don’t see how it’s ever going to get any better.

You just have to not go to the most popular spots in the country. Totally agree with you about there being a few places like what your saying but i hunt everyday in many different states and have been hunting since the 90s and i never experience what you are talking about unless i go to the top 2 or 3 places where you are just asking for it. Hunted arkansas my entire life and have never hunted bayou meto for that reason. We get tons of ducks and dont see people for a week sometimes. 80 percent of places are just like theyve always been.
