Snow Walk in Downtown Cleveland, OH (January 7, 2022)

On the morning of January 7, 2022, the first real snowfall of the winter season was falling in Downtown Cleveland, OH. We spent a half hour doing a snow walk from Public Square, to the Mall, a pass through the Arcade, and then taking a stroll down Euclid Avenue all the way up to Cleveland State University. Clevelanders talk alot of smack about snow. I'm moving to Cleveland, and as a person from Connecticut I say: bring it on! I can't wait to unbox this city.

Haha, I wanted more snow for 2023 in Cleveland, but we've barely had any this year so far.

I think the actual point of the barriers is to funnel people to that singular central crosswalk. The original design included two crosswalks that were supposed to connect forming that butterfly shape out of the pavers when you view public square from above. I guess it was decided that 2 crosswalks wasn't ideal or something. So they made one crosswalk in the middle, and put out those tacky temporary ramps for ADA compliance and installed barriers to funnel people to them and lied about security to cover their asses.

That sounds right and makes sense, to funnel everyone to one spot. Hopefully a better long term solution is found; even though there are events in the square, I wish it could've become a version "our" version of how Bryant Park is in NYC.

We actually had snow on the east side when I had my apartment there this past November. Mid month sometime maybe around the 13th I believe. It wasn’t a whole lot. Maybe an inch or two. I’m not sure downtown got that or not but I was only maybe 15 miles east. If that. Regardless, beautiful!

After the video, when I was looking through some pics/videos from a couple months earlier, I saw a clip I shot of some snowflakes falling (West Side). I don't think it accumulated over here though. Glad you enjoyed the video!

Yes! The shortened days of the early parts of winter, lol. I didn't think my first "nighttime snow walk" would end up being filmed in the morning (by appearance only, with respect to nighttime)
