Looking back, and understanding the sport (and life!) more, she probably was just a young athlete having fun and lost to a more deserving rider. Lindsey said in an interview that she would have quit the sport if she had won gold in 2006. She wasn’t having fun anymore and felt the pressure to be the Golden Girl. And she had already accomplished so much by that point.

So the grab at 4:22 wasn't during active competition and the grab at 4:34 was a "safety grab"; it was so small that it probably did help her to stay balanced and tucked in the air… I’m not sure what the problem is
