I feel bad for her… She thought she had the gold medal, so she decided to show off a bit and do the method grab on the last jump. I agree it was a bad decision, but it doesn’t make her a horrible person.

The best part is if you watch the slow motion of todays gold medal win, it almost looks like she dabs a quick Indy grab on the final kicker...

Why shouldn't they laugh? She would have won her first gold medal 16 years earlier if she hadn't attempted to show off, moreover she would've had another gold medal to her name.

people were flying off this fast course before her fall. looked like she tried a grab, but she was going extremely fast also inthe home stretch that was designed for ridiculous speed. if she didnt try to ball up, theres no guarantee she would’ve had control

Lack of professionalism and an excess of hubris. She, by sheer definition is not the best. She’s someone that was lucky. I’m glad that the showboating got her to watch someone else win the gold and she was left with a disappointing and hollow feeling. No, she never learned that lesson.
@shredcity

A 20 year old having a slip up in professionalism isn’t exactly ground-breaking, you’re still a kid at that age. She is a 10-time world champion, so I suppose on many occasions she was indeed the best. Not sure you if you could call that lucky. And I think the term for the gladness that you're experiencing is "schadenfreude".

She was a 20 year old and she made a daft mistake, big deal. How many people have done something stupid or unprofessional at that age. I would respect the fact that no matter how hard she seems to get knocked down or how much public criticism she takes, she always seems to keep on trying.
