When the snow is deep I push down on the handle bars It gives it more stability

I'm looking at one for our sugarbush. We've got steep ground, but mainly need to to get to areas with my equipment, then snowshoe from there. Seems like a handy rig.

I got one about a month ago. Similar trail and experience. I wish I had reverse. There is a learning curve. Turning around or steering in deep snow is nothing like the videos of them breezing along on near bare lake. No problem on packed trail but a headache in deep snow. Once it starts to go off the road it has a mind of its own and wants to keep going. Takes muscle and balance to steer. After a few weekends however I am getting comfortable with it and I think this will be a great tool. Saves me a 3 km hike into the cabin.

The Snowdog makes a cameo appearance in the upcoming video and it definitely has its purposes!

They sure do have a mind of their own! I hit a rut, and off the cliff I went! Lucky is got stuck in a sagebush 6-8 feet off the road. It could have gone 200 yards!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4mqp6mDa6Z6bKc

Snowmobiles also get dragged around by deep snow.

If you want one to go in deep snow you need the long track, these compact models are just toys for frozen lakes
@roffe8430 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for that point, which snowdogs with long track would you recommend? :)
@yellowdeer71633 жыл бұрын
Snow dogs can pull some very heavy logs. Good machines. You just need to know how to handle them.

Thanks for posting...........I had illusions of the snowdog doing things that perhaps my snowmobiles or atv could'nt. Seeing is believing I guess pertaining your video. Too many variables on off-trail or any uneven ground it appears. Makes me think back to driving one of the Carnival bumber car rides as a kid and actually believing you had any control or could steer and elude other bumper cars.

I have had people tell me that the newer ones handle better but I haven’t been able to test one yet but when I do you can bet that I’ll do a video on it. Thanks for watching!

Push down on handle bar when stuck, more weight on the back of track.

For male drivers who drive while standing: With those sudden jarring stops, you better be wearing your athletic supporter cup for testicle protection.

Don’t blame the machine Definitely driver inexperience.Throw a pile of pine boughs in that hole and let them freeze in.
@mapletreehomestead34373 жыл бұрын
I agree. By the end of the day it had become much easier to handle I have plans to do a follow up video. Since I did this I have found that older snowdogs did have a tendency to pull to the right but with experience and a little counterbalance it was fine!
@chrisburg46973 жыл бұрын
If it is pulling to the right your track needs to be balanced (it’s not even in the back). Check the owner’s manual

Can you imagine being chased by a 500 pound bear 🐻 or a pack of wolves... we have 2 snowmobiles and we have never had trouble with them... we are always on the go... take my advice don't slow down, just keep going at your speed...

Working in the Sugarbush I thought it would be nice to be able to get in and out of it with my snow shoes on unlike a snowmobile you have to take your snow shoes off every time you move it.

You've obviously never worked in a sugarbush. Carrying a hundred pounds of tools and equipment 4 - 5 miles per day on snowshoes takes a lot of time.
