I always found that eating more fatty foods helped build the heat for winter. Eating fat does not make you fat but does cause the body to get thermally stable. I found when I ate more carbs, I froze. This explains why the Inuit do not feel the cold as much because they eat whale fat. It also helps you dress in layers and for the conditions rather than just assuming a coat that looks good will bear the cold. I have worked outside and played outside in the past, and you need to reconsider that gloves will cause individual fingers to freeze oven mitts. And you can get full face covers for those with wind chill issues. Alberta can get snow all year round, and I saw snow in Calgary in August. In the past, we have had a lot more snow and colder temperatures; only in the last 15 years has that warmed up. We go in cycles. When I was a kid in the '70s, I would hear of storms in Calgary that shut down the city. Just dress for the conditions; get good boots with a good grip, socks that wick away moisture, and mitts that cover all your fingers and protect your ears. To prevent the nose from freezing, wear a muffler and breathe in through the mouth and out through the nose. You can get "Cat Crap" to cover your glasses to prevent fogging. Winter is not a time to dress as a fashion statement; dress for warmth. You do not want to freeze anything because it will freeze all winter. The guy who does @Ottawalks snakes a USB cable up his coat and has a booster battery under his lapel to charge his gimbal. Ottawa is very cold in winter, and at night, it can get down below -40

70 degrees F with blue skies today here in the SE US where I live. But, to be fair it was in the teens F just a few weeks ago with snow on the ground. Weird weather.
