Snowmobile Tunnel Polishing 101

For today's project, I show you the basic steps on what you can do to polish your aluminum tunnel to remove scratches and pitting.

220 grit will never "buff out" its way too aggressive. I'd recommend 600-1000 depending on the piting. If the piting is minimal just polish it. By using 220 you've created alot more work.

Sledbright polish along with aluma-kleen is what I found that works best. Look it up.. its KILLER GREAT!!

Looks great Streeter! That Mothers is a good compound to use, works great on chrome and aluminum. I've found and use a product called "White Diamond", it seems to do a better job on aluminum without a lot of work. It will polish that to a real nice finish. I bought it online somewhere. Anyway your sled's looking good!

WD-40 with the mothers polish works very well.

My sleds tunnel paint is peeling can I remove the paint and polish it?

Yes. You’ll need to use paint stripper and a pressure washer.

I used 320 sanding sponge and its leaving big scratches. What am I doing wrong?

move up to 600 wet sand

You want to wet sand it though, not dry like you did.

Doesn't look to shiny. I'll upload a vid of what mirror finish looks on aluminum but unfortunately I won't be able to post a vid to my process being a secret :p
