Thanks Denis! This was a great project to bring to life on STV. I think we did an OK job, but the experience in real life was even better! I highly recommend it.

Also meant to say loved the mention of Happy Valley as I grew up there back in the 60’s, my first machine was a 66 Olympic 10.5 and have been sledding ever since. Our current machine is a 22 expedition se which we love! Dave

Its amazing how well those things work, and how much they can haul. We didn’t talk about the nylon plastic on the runners, that’s another key part to making them work. Thanks for watching the show!

Great start to the season Jeff! We could use a little of that snow down here. Also thought you might hav seen a bear or two.
@jeffsteenbakkers4435 Жыл бұрын
I was hoping for a bear… I just have to go back. Snow is starting in the Ottawa area now. Saw a groomer go by today! That was most excellent to see.

Looks like an awesome trip 🙂I'm jealous, January 14th and only ridden about 10 miles around my house here in lower Michigan, this winter SUCKS!! 😞 Notice how all the vehicles that are normally rusted out , aren't!! Pretty sure salt is ineffective up there in those temps !

what a pain in the ass it must be to dig out the camera gear, screw around with batteries in the butt ass cold, haul all that shit out there on the trail, try to get some riding in and film along the way. Thanks for the content, certainly appreciate it as many, nearly all of us, will never be able to experience such an adventure in our entire lifetime riding sleds.

For the rope on the qamutik just a 150 years ago Inuit would use skin from a bearded seal to tie it all together not whale skin/mattaq mattaq was food. It's QA mu tik, not kamotik

It's an absolute disgrace how BRP doesn't sponsor this show or any other. As a SkiDoo and Can Am rider it's shameful
@jeffsteenbakkers4435 Жыл бұрын
I agree… Skidoo, send us some bucks! In fairness they do provide us a sled for the winter season.
@howrightiam Жыл бұрын
I'm happy they dont. Dont need another Ski doo or Polaris infomercial like another show, lol sorry Jeff, it's about the riding and the adventure, that's what sets you apart sir.

Can u tell us what kind of fur mittens those are…they look awesome
@almclauchlan Жыл бұрын
they are beaver fur on deer hide. Made in The Pas Manitoba
@jeffsteenbakkers4435 Жыл бұрын
They are awesome! I think they are made with small microwaves in them as well they are so warm!

What kind of gloves are those big furry ones?
@jeffsteenbakkers4435 Жыл бұрын
I borrowed them from Al the tour leader. Standing around doing the on-camera talks, my hands were freezing in my modern gloves. Those mitts were toasty and started up the circulation again. I believe they are hand made by First Nations from the region. They know what they are doing! Beautiful craftsmanship, and incredibly warm.

Ballpark how much $ ?
@darrrenbetker4266 Жыл бұрын
how much did that trip cost u? be honest
@jeffsteenbakkers4435 Жыл бұрын
This is based on last years cost which was $2750 plus tax Canadian per person. There are other costs not covered such as travel to and from Thompson Manitoba, fuel, and any alcohol. Also, you have to provide your own sled. Rentals are not covered but available. Overall I believe this cost is pretty reasonable considering the location and the experience.

Thanks Jeff for coming on the trip and showcasing northern Manitoba. We have great snow here every year, snow comes early and the clubs get on the trails right away. The snow also stays late, we are riding into March/April. For anyone interested in the trip you can contact Heartland International Travel and Tours of Winnipeg. Don and Jayde will help you out. For more information about riding in northern Manitoba search out: Sledmb53 for up to date information on trails and rides. Hope to go on a longer ride with you in the future- I will keep that one under my hat for now- See everyone on the trails!

You are exactly right, the new stuff was good, but the traditional clothing, like the big mitts I had on for the beginning of the show are sooooo much warmer.
