Shit...when you headed up? Vail pass is a decent area...you just going there? It cost $6 for the day pass and there are a fair amount of groomed trails. Lots of people stick to the trails, so if your into boondocking and hustlin some trees, its not hard to find untouched fresh....especially with the way the last couple weeks have been. With all the snow, just grab a map from the booth in the lot to make sure you stay out of the no sled zones and pretty much everyplace should be good.

Over presidents weekend. It'll be our first time in the Vail Pass area. And yeah they have been getting dumped on. Can't wait. Should we be worried about avalanche risk up there? Thanks for info

Sounds good...and the avy risk is pretty obvious, so easy to steer clear of. I never even risk it on the high marks and shit...theres usually some crews there at Wingle Ridge, which is the huge cornice you can see pulling into the lot, high marking and dropping that beast, but Ive seen all that slide before. Ptarmigan Hill is another sketchy area but the trail goes right up to the top of it, which is safe and makes for some awesome views if your lucky enough to get some clear skys. Another sweet thing about the vail pass area is that the trail goes into the small town of Red Cliff to grab lunch at Mangos...not many places here you can ride to a bar/restaurants. The forest service is pretty cool there and usually helpful, so depending on your skill level, theres plenty for all and they can tell you where to go. Most of the sleds there are either rentals or people towing skiers, so like I said, you dont need to venture too far to find the good stuff. You riding all weekend? I may be up there on sunday...prob not because of traffic, but shoot me an email and if im up there we could meet up. Good luck! wenzel.brian@gmail.com
