Melanie Cavill is a cold, cruel, ruthless, monstrous, morally bankrupt, inhuman, despicable, reprehensible, cowardly, irredeemable, evil woman! And I have repeated fantasies of torturing her or locking her in a miserable prison for the rest of her miserable life! She kept 400 people in a windowless hell and took their arms for dissention. Maintained a dystopia and was too cowardly to even try and change it for the better, making excuses for herself the whole time! The fact that she kept the train running and saved humanity makes no difference to me! Better humanity die out if evil is the price of our continued existence for survival is infinitely insignificant next to morality! In her place I would have thrown out Wilford's rules and society as soon as departure and if that meant an existential threat to the train and humanity, then so be it! And for doing anything less, Melanie Cavill deserves not even the slightest bit of sympathy, pity or mercy. She does deserve to be punished and suffer in this life and the next!

Was melanie leading the train thát bad tho? Yes for the people in the tail. They should have all gotten to a third class-like state. Proper food,proper bed etc. But for the rest.. under melanie her leadership, the train went fine for 7 years( except for ppl in the tail) Once they took over it was constantly war,battles,... the whole train was a mess

Don't forget the ones who lived well on the train only did so because they hoarded it's resources and had people slaving away for them. Melanie took people from the 21st century and sent them back to the middle ages. And the damage done here is not just to people's lives but to humanity's soul, it's sense of right and wrong. The people in charge of Snowpiercer threw away morality in the name of survival and they became monsters. All the worst as these were just about the last humans alive. Better that humanity's story come to an end then chose to live on through evil means. As for the chaos that followed the revolution, the same could be said for the American Revolution. Revolutions disrupt government and plunge nations into chaos but that doesn't mean they shouldn't happen.

It was announced in the latest episode that one of the engineers died during the repairs. His access chip could have permission for the engine room as well, it could've been smuggled from the dead body and given to LJ. There is a telling shot of her in the promo, as if she sneaks up the corridor leading to the engine.

I think that this clip is a dream that Melanie is having. I think that it is a dream because one, why would the voices echo? Two, it's executed perfectly. I hope it's not a dream, but I think they will sit on this reveal to the first class until episode 10. I wish this was a longer season. I really enjoy this show!

If you read the source material there are actually 10 trains in motion and quite easily Mr Wilford is just one of the others. Why design a train to goes around the planet with only one train? 30,000 humans make more sense.

Sorry I dont see Melanie as a protagonist. She tortured and killed Josie, let LJ go free even though she was guilty, imprisoned Layton for finding out the truth, and is letting people in the tail end suffer for something that happened 7 years ago. Also what is she going to do to Miles? How many times has she done stuff like this to keep her secret? How is she any different from Wilford based on her actions?

I absolutely agree, I can't believe how many supporters she has! She uses the fact she saved humanity to justify all her actions. But she didn't save humanity, just the human species. She said she couldn't change anything about the train because it was designed to work this way but it seems to me she was just to scared to take the risk. Anyway, better the human race cease to exist then continue living under and enforcing such oppression.
