In my opinion if it had actual treads on its tires instead of slicks it would have probably preformed better.

@@saulhernandez9667 Tires were part of the problem but the real crippling issues were its lack of power (8 hp/ton) and poor weight distribution which meant it drove better on snow in reverse.

I watched the documentary of the Arctic Snow cruiser it had a lot of engineering problems so it was abandoned in the Arctic sad because it had a lot of potential

@@kollinspencer847 Well, a theory suggests it might have fallen into the ocean because of the melting and breaking ice, which means it could be very well preserved from the cold water just like the endurance, but we probably won't ever know for sure where it is

It's not lost it's actually used as a staging ground for several antarctic expeditions, it's permanently parked at it's position and used as a laboratory and living space.

I knew you would check it out, TC. I did today as well. It gave me the same wow as the Berliet T100 which I still use to this day. Absolutely love it. This thing will be the same for me. Fell in love with it when I saw it. Such a shame the real thing is probably lost forever such a unique machine. This mod is absolutely amazing. Its huge, but maneuverable with the all wheel steering. Good customization rounds the package off. I remember seeing a prototype or a test bed for this mod but didn't expect someone to actually pull it off so nicely. Only wish for the future: dually tires like the real thing. When they took the two spare wheels and mounted them on the front wheels for better traction that would make it perfect. Great video TC 👍👍

It was built by letourneau the guy was a industrial vehicle visionary, the company he started and sold off to P&H is still around today and makes the L-2350 the world's largest front end wheeled loader, of which the mine I work at has one of them. It really is a massive machine

The biggest issue with the Antarctic Snow Cruiser was their choice to use just four tires. If they had installed Right Tracks from Right Track Systems out of Alberta, it'd have had plenty of traction and a very low ground pressure. Granted those weren't around at the time, but it's not hard to imagine that they could have been made since they also had tanks at the time. Pressure = Force / Area

Fun fact the snow cruiser was made for the arctic and it’s wheels could evelvate down to a kinda sled so it would slide over cracks and places also the plane was used for scouting but sadly it wasn’t used because the vehicle was poorly made and it broke down in the arctic circle and a last thing the manager even demonstrated the wheels were so lights weighted at he was ran over by the 20 ton truck and survived with no injuries because the wheels were filled with so much air

I found out when i tested it in Michigan and one thing that noone will expect is that IT FLOATS!!! Now it doesnt have steering or drive in water but it does float to sinking this thing went out the window. If you think thats not possible try it yourself.

fun fact i failed misserably when it came to coding the prototype version of this mod. I mean i gave it a solid attemp, but saber changed the initial deafault mod vehicles code. and it was not for the better.

The "stock" 600hp engine is way inaccurate, I know it's just a mod but If it's based of a real vehicle at least make it realistic, also it has 2 diesel engines powering 4 electric motors that only had 75hp each, meaning it only had 300hp and the power to weight was 8hp per ton, and it weighed 75,000 Ibs or 37 tons

Antarctic. Wrong end of the globe. Also, it was built in the '30s, that interior is nothing like the real thing, and obviously it wasn't a pickup. Also, changing the engines wouldn't do anything, it was diesel-electric drive. Literally any of those tire options would be a massive improvement over what the IRL cruiser had, it struggled with traction when they actualy got it to Antarctica, turns out treadless tires don't have traction. Pro tip, reverse should have better traction than forwards, if whoever made this mod did any amount of research at all.

It was built on a commission. The person who paid to have this built was very specific on what his vision of this vehicle was going to be within the realm of Snowrunner. Pro tip, it's a fictional video game.

But also, the Snow Cruiser is something that I've done far to much research on, I figured I might as well give a list of differences between the mod and the actual cruiser, since as I've said, I've done a lot of research on it. That being said, it does look like an incredible mod, and definitely one I would get if I had the game, I understand that if it were 100% accurate it would be pretty pointless
