I am someone who wrote this truck off after a quick test drive, and though I don't have anywhere near the upgrades you have, I'll definitely give it a second chance later on. I like the more unusual vehicles.

Arkanoid McZombietron yeah I basically did the same dude! Tried it for 2 minutes, left it in the garage and only used it for truck darts lol! But it did better than I thought! It’s not that great in some places that other stuff is better, so you just assume it’s going to be even worse in the tough stuff, and yet it got through loads of places I didn’t think it would stand a chance at! The sheer weight and power makes up for a lot with this truck, it keeps ploughing through long after a lot of other trucks are done!

I'm grateful to this truck for eventually getting the drilling equip from island lake to the drummond port for me but jeeeeezus that turn onto the second wooden bridge just before you get to the island lake lumber mill ... my pc was lucky to survive the rage as the bloody thing tipped for the 3rd time after spending an hour edging back and forth with winches trying to get the friggin thing to turn. Swore I'd never deal with that turning circle ever again.

Oh yeah I remember that mission! Can’t remember what I did it in but not this, I think I went back out of island lake and through smithville and to the port on Drummond that way! Island lake is a bit of a troll lol! I know the bit you mean, and this truck isn’t un-tippable once you lean too far! Lol I’ve considered drop kicking options with my PS4 once or twice with this game! It breaks you and makes you a stronger man this game! The turning circle is basically horrific! Wouldn’t use it on twisty routes but as long as they’re long sweeping bends she does very well!

I took it out stock, and thought it was stupid... The i got it fully upgraded, and now i love it and use it quite a bit on certain maps! A beast!

Yeah same I think I basically garaged it after it was slow getting out of where you find it! But luckily I tried the upgrades and I’m glad I did! The power makes up for a lot of things lol! A definite beast 👍🏻!

The only reason I use that truck is that there a couple of missions where you have to take something like 4 drilling spare parts and normally you would have to get a trailer or go back and forth it's really good for jobs like that were you know the road is mostly paved or there's only a little bit of mud.

Yeah it’s a much more capable truck than I initially thought! And for what you’re describing it sounds perfect! On mostly road runs I don’t think there’s a lot that could beat it really! It motors along pretty nicely! And you could winch a 4 slot trailer behind so 8 slots would be easy!

Yeah go for it dude I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by what she can do 👍🏻! Very fast, could winch a 4 slot trailer for 8 cargo per run, and swims in the sea lol! Worst case sell it all back and no money lost! Enjoy dude!

This is one of my favourite trucks. Being able to transport 4 cargo without needing to use a draggy trailer is very usefull. I can use the AWD. Not sure is this was added in a patch, but that is a real game changer for this truck.

Yeah I really like it too! One of my favourite trucks! Not done many or any missions I think but as far as messing around and flying around the map she does really well! I can’t deny if AWD was an option I’d pay a hell of a lot for it lol! Ahhh cool to be honest I don’t play in cockpit much but they’ve done such a nice job with the interiors that I find myself doing the same quite a bit! Yeah that’s true see it’s things like that, being able to recover it post mission where it can make life a lot easier! It’s turning circle is crap but you soon get used to taking a corner wide etc and I’ve never had much trouble with it! I certainly won’t sell it and when mods arrive for console we will be able to get AWD and rear steering and all sorts! Plus it could winch a 4 slot trailer and do 8 cargo in 1 run if needed so yeah I like it!

The level of detail in this game is awesome, the dash in this western star is an authentic western star dash. I spent several years looking at that dash irl. Usually this rig have open sides on the hood.

Yeah they’ve done a great job with the interiors! More than I was expecting, especially coming from mudrunner and the 2D dash boards lol! These look awesome! Ahhh that’s cool that you’ve driven one 👍🏻! I’m guessing you take it out regularly in the game too lol! I really like this thing in game! I use it quite a lot! Not really for missions as much but for messing around etc it’s one of the best lol!

It’s Mr Lone Wolf I have not driven that model of western stars, the model I drove is the western star 4900 (highway truck), bust the dash is exactly the same down to the digital display (data star) on the right portion of the dash. I did get to ride in one, they don’t turn well, and the ride is rough. They are quite a large unit from the passenger seat you are looking down to the drivers seat in a highway truck. Where I’m from these are used in the oil field.

What I found that is interesting with this truck is that because of the length it almost doesn’t need awd. Depending on the length of the mud the rear wheels will push the front wheels through the mud and by the time the rear wheels hit the mud, the front wheels are on good ground.

Yeah it certainly can do a lot more than it gets credit for, a lot of people just seen no AWD etc and wrote it off and sold it but it’s not bad! The turning circle is crap and it is rollable on tricky terrain so I wouldn’t say it’s the best mission truck unless it’s largely road based and long sweeping bends, but it’s one of the most fun trucks in game and it carried cargo along the snowy roads better than most could tow a trailer down there so I like it! I’m not selling it!

Yeah it does as it would be a cool feature! But I was just thinking that it can carry 4 on its back, and it could winch a 4 slot ramped trailer, if that high saddle was on the back towing a 5 slot trailer and it could maybe fit 3 on its back then you’d be back at 8 slots so I guess there’s no gain to it! But for options sake it should have it! Actually scrap that, with a saddle and trailer it could also winch to a 4 slot after meaning it could possibly take up to 12 slots of cargo by itself! Either way mods will solve all of that and many more things though 👍🏻

Not sure if you're aware, but you can sell upgrades you're not using, pressing square on the ones that aren't in use will basically refund you for them

I really like that about this game though! They could have made it only give half back and then also added micro transactions for real money and tried making some people just get all their stuff that way! But every penny you earn pretty much is yours to keep!

Yeah same here dude it’s rare these days to not have a game purposely adjusted to make it a grind so micro transactions sell better! This game has stayed very true to a game and not a cash machine which yeah is a rare but refreshing change!

@@itsmrlonewolf it is refreshing not to have to worry about them ruining the experience with artificially time limits or micro transactions. Kinda sad that's the exception these days. The only thing I would say about the money in Snowrunner is that because there is no way for money to come out of the system (you can't lose money anywhere) it kinda loses its value other than to artificially limit progress. It also makes upgrades and buying vehicles less meaningful, because there is no penalty to spending money and making mistakes. That said it does make the game more accessible to new players of the series.

To be honest I get what you’re saying and kind of agree, but at the same time with my personal experience on it, I was always just short of cash meaning I needed to always do just 1 more mission etc, but now I’m almost done basically, I can buy and sell stuff and try new trucks out and different winches and all sorts, if I lost half the money each time I sell back or something then basically I’d either have to do one of the contests like 200 times again and again just to replace the money, and if I sold stuff I have now to try other vehicles, at the end of it I could only sell them all back and get like half my original vehicles back so it would just make everyone stick to what you find and rarely take a chance on a new truck incase it bites them! Plus on PC they all have mods and seemed to have all modded their bank accounts to say $9999999999999 lol so on console we are still by far doing it the toughest lol!

si o'shaughnessy yeah it’s the last truck I found! I’d forgot about island lake and I had no idea I could find it so was happy when I did! Haha yeah the turning circle is shocking! Definitely want to plan routes with long sweeping corners even if it’s a longer trip! True and it’s definitely flippable on awkward roads and mountain sides! Not as bad as the ANK but not as planted as stuff like the Tayga or the Azov 5139! But it still impressed me with some of the places it kept going through

I tried it on the Russian maps. Had a terrible time with it. But in Alaska and some parts of Michigan it is quite useful. It is a challenging truck for sure. Edit: just subscribed can't wait to see more.

Kansas Farmer yeah Russia is a tough mistress on this game lol! It’s no joke on the Russian maps! I could see it struggling there! Saying that I tried it for a speed run delivering a cargo container from the train station in drowned lands to the sawmill, and I ended up rolling it before it ever got stuck! But yeah I think Michigan and Alaska are a lot better choice for it! Russia needs AWD and diffs almost permanently! Yeah I like the challenge of it though, I think they’ve done well making different strengths and weaknesses shine in various trucks, they’ve all got their ways and tricks and once you find it you get a lot more out of it! When you think about it free mods means they kind of shoot themselves in the foot on purpose because it means they can’t really add any micro transaction trucks because someone could just mod the same thing! So hence why games practically never come with mods! PC is just the Wild West of modding and no one can stop them anyway lol but on PS4 they could! I have a feeling it’s taking longer for us because it might be easier for Toyota to sue Sony or snowrunner for adding a Toyota in game for example, than it would be to sue a PC company because there’s not really any way to stop them! So I bet there’s just some more technical hoops to jump through before it’s ready for console

In all honestly mate I reckon 200 hours and I was about done! Probably about 300 hours now but just been messing and getting vids sorted for the last 100! But I was exploring etc before so put it this way I’d say a solid 100 hours and I very highly doubt you’d be done even if that was pure play through time with no messing around, but you’d be fairly close to the end! 100-200 hours really, but you could get a lot of trucks and explore all maps etc in more like 20-50 hours if you use guides online so you can access a lot of stuff in a lot less than 100 hours if you didn’t get too much game time 👍🏻

Mark Proctor no worries dude! Well so far they haven’t released the first DLC, I got a Kahn 38 for free with big tyres at the start of the game, that’s about £3 in the ps store, and some truck camo’s etc but there’s apparently 4 phases of DLC coming! Personally I’ve got the season pass and I don’t regret it but yeah they’ve not released anything yet! If you can live without the free Kahn then you could wait and see what the first DLC is like but it’s up to you dude! There is a video by Focus home interactive I think they’re called, explaining their DLC plans if that helps, should be easy to find just write snowrunner DLC or something 👍🏻

The fact that you can't winch a stuck vehicle out of the mud, throw it on a trailer, and tow it to wherever the mission says it's supposed to go, pisses me off. I hope they fix that!

Is that still broken? When the game first came out I had no trouble putting vehicles on trailers etc, but then at some point after that first major update I couldn’t! And the cargo clipped through the trailers for me but all that’s sorted now but I’ve not tested the vehicles on trailers since! Might check it out later but hopefully that’s been sorted like the clipping cargo!?

@@itsmrlonewolf It's still broken. I tried yesterday on PS4 with a vehicle recovery mission that was next to a ramp trailer. That Scout 800 kept falling through every time I switched to the truck the trailer was attached to.

T1Oracle yeah so it is, I tried it earlier and I can drive on trailers now though, but when you switch to the truck towing then yeah it still falls through! The other week I couldn’t even drive on the trailer though, hopefully it’s fixed ASAP because I want to do some vehicle transporting too! They have fixed the cargo clipping though so they seem to be working on them and fixing it without a proper update, just one of those little background ones I think!

This thing gots no AWD, is difficult to manoeuvr, cannot put add-ons, cannot tow, and very easy to flip over tricky roads. I gave up on this thing and sold it.

Most other trucks couldn’t do what this can if they had their diffs off and AWD off! You can still haul 8 cargo with it by winching a 4 slot trailer! But either way dude if it’s not your thing then yeah best to just sell it and get something that is your thing 👍🏻

Wasn't a huge fan of this truck at first. It seemed too big and bulky to be able to do much. The more I used it though, I really grew to like it. It's not one that I use all the time, but it definitely has its uses. As long as you don't let it tip too far to the side... haha

Yeah to be honest between forgetting and the tyre menu scroll speed being so slow I often leave whatever tyres I equip a truck with, on for ages lol! However from recent testing, the chained tyres are very good, not just for snowy maps but the container contests in drowned lands, I actually got a faster time with chained tyres on the Tayga than with the big mud tyres even though it’s a full on muddy map! I do prefer and use mud tyres on some vehicles but honestly the chained tyres are a very good jack of all trades tyre that handles mud just fine I think 👍🏻! But I’m sure in some situations it would have been even better with mud tyres, however as the video shows this truck I think is very impressive and very underrated and did just fine even with chained on

@@itsmrlonewolf meh Doesn't change the review much. Just wanted to point it out. Figured you forgot to change it after using it in alaska or couldnt be bothered. Nothing wrong with chain tires. Just usually mud tires are the better option if they're available. Still shines light on an underrated truck even I initially didn't give much credit until i upgraded it and gave it another chance when i unlocked everything.

If anyone was wondering no I'm not a hater against this KZbinr all I'm saying he needs too have a full picture before doing a video explaining about the vehicle and Mate this has an all-wheel drive as well you've just got to go and find it I'm sorry to everyone but this guy as got two stop assuming that there's nothing else for this vehicle because this guy said this is a rear Drive twin steer and I basically believed him it is not a rear twin steer there is other videos out there that for this vehicle it is an all-wheel-drive upgrade that is out there you just need to find it some people have got to get their facts straight before doing a video on KZbin

The AWD upgrade didn’t exist in this game when I made this video. They added the AWD upgrade when they released phase 1, with Lake Kovd, and Imandra. It’s on Imandra. I made another Twinsteer video with the AWD upgrade. But unless you buy the DLC, then you can’t get it, so for a lot of people, the truck is only RWD.

Haha it really is! I love the P16 for the horn alone! Biggest thing they underestimated in this game is horn quality! This is about top 3 horns for me so far! The other Derry with all live axles has a great horn and of course the P16 is the winner!

Lol I hung on to everything for dear life but this would have originally been on the sell list but now it’s definitely not! Too much of a unique fun powerful truck I think now! To be honest dude before this video I’d have agreed! But after testing it I actually think it’s pretty good! It got through places like the black river river better than the ANK etc, did the snow fine, it floats in water so you can drive to other islands and places I don’t think any other truck can go, and I think it’s sheer weight and power makes up at least some way for the lack of AWD! I agree it would be much better with AWD, but to be honest I think it would be damn near broken if it had it as it can already do a lot that other trucks struggle with! That is obviously it’s weakest link though! With AWD I think it would go basically everywhere! But mods are on PC and coming to console so someone will mod it with AWD guaranteed! Can’t wait

@@itsmrlonewolf you got some valid points but this truck was just getting stuck to much for me. Especially in mud and big bumps. I gave it more then enough tries to give me a good reason to keep it but it just does not give me on. But it would have been one of my favorite trucks, if it had AWD atleast, they could even have taken out diff lock and I wouldn't have cared as long as it would have AWD.

AKHAA & TJ yeah that’s cool man that’s the nice thing about this game, there’s no 1 outright winning truck, some suit some things better plus it depends on play style and all sorts! If it’s not your thing then no point wasting time, sell it and get something that is your thing lol 👍🏻! Yeah the P16 is fairly slow but it’s sheer size and weight gives it good grip even without AWD etc!

It would be OP with AWD, and I am glad it doesn’t have it. It’s a good truck as it is. The only problem is that it can be found/unlocked very early in the game - before you have some good upgrades for it - so people try it and say it’s garbage. I have used it a lot and it’s very good if you know how to drive it.
