Cheers for making this video - exactly the review I was looking for! (Probably gonna get the Tubbs as they are half the price of the MSR here in Japan) 👍

Where do you get the expedition studs for the MSR straps

Hey there! The expedition studs are available as part of a maintenance kit from our website here > www.tomsoutdoors.com.au/collections/msr/products/msr-field-service-kit

Are the MSR Lightning really lighter? It says they are heavier than the Tubbs on the descriptions I find. I used to have a pair of Atlas snowshoes, and they were also heavier than the Tubbs pair I have now. I have the same Flex TRK as you showed here and they are perfect for my use off trail here, very easy to walk with.

Great question. As far as the weight goes between the MSR Lightning Ascent (Paragon Binding) and the Tubbs Flex TRK, they are almost identical (MSR = 1.95kg/pair vs Tubbs = 1.96kg/pair). However, the full metal surround in the MSR provides slightly more durability over many seasons of use. At the end of the day, both snowshoes are fantastic and both benefit from seeing snow often!

@@tomsoutdoorsgearguide I find there's a bigger difference in weight between those two. Googling the 22" of both, the Lightning is 1.89 and the Tubbs is 1.6. The Tubbs 24" is 1.75.
