The "russians walking in avdeevka" video in the beginning is 3 weeks old - this is original infiltration after troops get there via the pipe. They didn't run on the street gun blazing yelling URA, they dispersed in the buildings to use them as fortifications. Note that there is lots of snow (compare with other footage) and building are undamaged, no any traces of fighting.

What is angering me at this moment is that zelensky is pulling his highly trained and equipped, high valued soldiers out of Avdiivka and replacing them with middle-aged bus drivers, young unexperienced, and who knows who else as just meat to be butchered so the President of Russia cannot say that they captured the city before the elections. Everyone knows Putin has a high approval rating and is very popular. Everyone knows, apparently except zelensky, that Avdiivka will fall, yet the timing will have no effect on the Russian election. So many poorly or untrained soldiers will die for nothing! zelensky must be tried for war crimes, there must be some rule against doing this.

Garden holder/association = properly called an "allotment" in English - land allotted by lease/rent from the government. A group of allotments in an area is usually referred to as 'the allotments', or 'the Avdivka allotments', for example. In older English they would have come under 'common' or 'commons' - the area for people, people who don't own land of their own, to work in common. Hence the expression 'common people' - ordinary folk. In most of (Germanic etymology) Northern Europe they are referred to as Koloni (allotment) or Koloni Have (allotment gardens) or derivates of those. Nice work, Dima: I think you'd best off referring to the 'gardening club' as the "Avdivka allotments".

Sirski will be able to hold Avdievka for at least few months. His reputation is at stake, he can't afford to start his command with the loss of Avdievka. Human loses are irrelevant in this case for Ukraine.

Aleksandr Syrsky is ethnic Russian who was born in Russia’s Vladimir Region when both Russia and Ukraine were part of the Soviet Union. He graduated from a military academy in Moscow and his parents and brother live in Russia and are pro-Putin. It is rather pathetic that the whole of Ukraine has not a single ethnic Ukrainian general to be a commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine but they need to use a Russian general to take command, even though he is deeply unpopular among the rank and file of the Ukrainian military, who view him as a “butcher” willing to sacrifice waves of troops. Syrsky is best known for “leading forces into a meat grinder in Bakhmut [called Artyomovsk in Russia], sending wave after wave of troops to face opposition fire”. Since he is demilitarizing Ukraine - eagerly sacrificing Ukrainian troops left and right in a never-ending cycle of fruitless assaults that drain personnel, one has to wonder, is he secretly working for Russia? It is not like such thing never happened in war history. I recall one Turkish general Mustafa Mümin Aksoy during the Greece's occupation of Turkey in the last years of Ottoman Empire and the Turkish War of Independence 1919-1922 (I watched it in Vatanim Sensin or Wounded Love TV series)
