Wicked sled, can't wait to get a ride on one.. Shocks and gauges are definitely the two items that leave a little to be desired. Cool video layout btw AJ. Kinda refreshing to here a review that isn't rehersed, reviewed and is just your honest first impressions. Hope both you and Luke continue posting some videos this way.

Thanks for the comments, we will continue to do this stuff and the regular Snowtrax vids throughout the season but we want to give our KZbin viewers more that's exclusive for them. The shooting is a little rough because it's me using the camera lol but if everyones ok with it we will continue to bring ya this stuff as well. Thanks for watching the show, we really appreciate it. ~AJ

I am really looking forward to the complete review of this sled, but I wish when you did the shootout that you would include the Arctic Cats in there too. I am not brand specific by any means but you guys always talk about the Switchback Assaults and Renegade Backcountry, but never include the Cross country or High Country, Arctic Cats. I would really like to see how they stack up against the competition in this crossover category. I know they are the underdogs, but last years review of the Cross Country proved it could surprise you. They may yet again if you give it them a chance.
@johanh98977 жыл бұрын
Polaris and ski-doo is their sponsors so of course they talk more about them
@dirttraxtv7 жыл бұрын
Last time I checked Arctic Cat was one of our sponsors too, Yamaha as well. These are just the two most talked about flatland free ride sleds so we shot them out but I don't disagree that we should get the cat in there too. We will see what we can do .
@tim597EX7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for responding, I recognize that Polaris and Ski-doo have the largest market share and so have earned the spotlight, I guess I am just one of those people always cheering for the underdog. Thanks for listening to your audience. I think you guys do a great job and I am looking forward to this season.

Not sure what the Polaris gauge has for features but my Blizzard gauge has some features like fuel mileage, top speed, altitude, engine temp, fuel gauge and more. Nice vid and sled.
@troyoleson7 жыл бұрын
I hope you are spot on and BRP puts the digital dash in for 2019. The GPS on the Polaris is awesome when you are in the back country. Spending an additional $1K (US) to get the Garmin is okay, but it would be much better if it was just fully integrated.
@715films6 жыл бұрын
You should do a comparison between the freeride 137 & the 146. That’s a huge debate towards riders when wanting a fr and I really would love a video like that.
@bikermike7 жыл бұрын
Has me intrigued. You're right about those simple shocks! why?
@dirttraxtv7 жыл бұрын
We've been scratching our heads about it too. Beautiful sled in every way, and not a terrible shock, but not up to par with the competition.
@bikermike7 жыл бұрын
I mean I get it to some degree not everybody wants to bring a flat head screwdriver out on their ride to adjust clickers or even that they understand which way or which ones to adjust but at least a quick simple adjustment to adapt to changing trail conditions during a ride like the FOX Q3. That design would be a vast improvement and would finish off the total package. Ski-doo isn't alone on this either there are 18,000 dollar sleds out there with minimal shock adjustment. This was one of the factors that lead me to purchase my old stock 2016 viper rtx with the Q3's.
@Icutmetal7 жыл бұрын
Dirt Trax Television Right! It’s not that the shocks and gage are BAD, but does it really live up to the X-package name? Awesome machine, but I don’t think so.

IMO ski doo should team up with elka (just like yamaha and fox) if this came with stage 4 or 5 elka shocks it would be awesome. would be nice to see the 2 canadian companies team up

WeekendWarriors I completely agree with you. elka makes great stuff. also the same as Polaris and walker Evans.

@bradhessels46837 жыл бұрын
In my opinion the old back country x got replaced with the 137 freeride that you can get with a 16 inch wide 1.75 lug track and r-motion this back country kinda started a new category here is southern Ontario my dealer in seaforth sold 10 freeride 137 and only a couple back country’s cuz that 146 is just too long for us down here kinda sucks cuz the old backcountry were sweet
@Icutmetal7 жыл бұрын
Brad Hessels The 137” BCX you’re referring to was offered all the way back to 2011, along side the FreeRide 137” for many years. I don’t think the Freeride “replaced” it at all.
@marknewman86097 жыл бұрын
You were right. The shocks are bad. The price you pay for those sleds you should get something wayy better. Its the first thing i replace.

Revrider550 This is what you should of bought
@WilliamStewart17 жыл бұрын
Cory Coulter Why?
@Revrider5507 жыл бұрын
William Stewart I think a lot of people wanted to see me get a sled that was direct competition for my assault but to be honest that idea bores me. I got the cat because it was different and that was always my goal. Whenever I add a sled I want it to be different than what I already have
@WilliamStewart17 жыл бұрын
Revrider550 I was referring to the comment about how you "should" have gotten this over your assault. I like all sleds, and I switch between them constantly. Last year I was on a sidewinder MTX and this year I'm on a 2018 Mountain cat, before the sidewinder I had a skidoo, and before that a Polaris. I have nothing against any if the sled manufacturers, I just wanted this mountain cat because they look badass, they're not common, and they made a ton of improvements to the M8000 line this year. They're all so close to each other engine wise, it boils down to buying what you like ergonomically and aesthetically, on a side note I do like the assault.
@Revrider5507 жыл бұрын
William Stewart I feel the exact same way. I have a channel on here and I started with an Assault last year and this year added a arctic cat zr 6000 rr as a second sled and a few people feel I should've gotten other sleds such as this one. I too like to try out different sleds it's the only way to find out what really works and what doesn't for you. I assumed the comment was about me getting the RR instead of an 850 but I could've been wrong. Either way I enjoy my sleds and I think that's the main thing everyone should shoot for for sure.
@revhead74307 жыл бұрын
freeride doesn't have the same front end as a summit . .. its the same width as the backcountry but with the adjustable spindle ?? no ??
@scottybogs68957 жыл бұрын
Rev Head Yes the new Freeride shorty's have the same width front end as the backcountry x. Just the longer track length versions have the narrow summit ski stance.
@WilliamStewart17 жыл бұрын
Rev Head A friend of mine just bought a free ride 154, it's basically a summit in every way just with a full tunnel cooler and extra bracing plus the better shocks.

Now all you have to do Is replace the front bumper with an XC Cast front bumper and replace the rear bumper with a heavy duty rear bumper
@mturley84147 жыл бұрын
Couldn't agree more with the shox category.. Skidoo missed the boat with the shox and the gauges and has been lacking for a while now.. Any in season buy on a skidoo has the worst shock package in the bizz.. Sad because I love doo but they need to address.. My 18 gade XRS though is AWESOME!!!
@dandycus66267 жыл бұрын
I have no problem riding faster and harder on my '18 BCX than an aggressive rider friend who owns an '18 Assault. Just saying. This sled CAN do tight technical trails FAST too!
