That's the cool thing about old-school diesel engines, assuming the battery is fully charged, it'll start right up.

Nothing beats the sound of a Ford diesel firing up and reving! It doesn't make no difference if it is a 1980's Canadian Motorhome with a massive Diesel or a little British hatchback with a tiny Gasoline engine, one thing is the same - The Ford reliability. We've had our '97 Ford for 4 years almost, and it has NEVER failed to start. Not once in all that time. Damn good quality engines.

wow!; thats pretty good for sitting in the winter for 2 months not having been started; Gotta love those old diesels!!! :)

thanks for reving the van for me injoy hearing the sound of the engine of the 6.9lt diesel.
@IDIDieselJohn13 жыл бұрын
Oh don't worry, it had been running for 45min before I started doing the revving. Gauge still wasn't up, but it wasn't dead cold at least. I have to put some kind of load on the engine when I start it, to keep the cylinder bores from glazzing throughout winter.

thanks for reving the van for me injoy hearing the sound of the engine of the 6.9lt diesel I whish i had a van like that or a ford f-250 or f-350 or a International s1600 or s1700 series 4600, 4700. Or a School bus s1700 or 3700 because I love the sound of the engine that goes up to 3000 rpm Alison transmisson AT545 or a 4 speed manuel.

That gray carport, right beside the red barn.....the F250 is in there. Still looks the same as you last saw it. No shop to work on it in winter.

How much miles per gallon it gives ?

Had been running for around 45min before I started revving it. Wasn't fully warmed up, but wasn't cold anymore.
@IDIDieselJohn13 жыл бұрын
Might very well be. I got it running right, but it needs half choke. I'm gonna tinker with it next season, take the carb off and give it a good cleaner also. That is the original generator in this camper, and the carb has never been serviced.
@CorvusCasull13 жыл бұрын
Well put together video man! I'm always impressed with how easily that IDI motorhome starts, though you did make me cringe a bit with all the revving. I know you're careful with cold engines, but I'm always thinking of longevity I guess - I won't give anything the juice until it's been within operating temperature for at least five to ten minutes. (Especially diesel powered things)

You need to get yours starting like this :D

I have to give it half choke, for it to run right. Next season i'm gonna take the carb apart and clean/fix it. This is really starting to piss me off!

Deoes the Generator run on a separate tank of gas? Or propane? I figured it too would have been diesel.
@IDIDieselJohn8 жыл бұрын
+8v-of-fury Theres a 38 gallon diesel tank for the engine, 25 gallon propane tank for the coach, and 16 gallon gas tank for the generator.
