Yes,I think it would be very quiet during your walk-in to the forest. I'm sure there are animals near by,that you don't see. I don't see how you can find the path with the snow on the ground.

At 05:53, you didn't hear any birds. Often in winter, birds have an easier time finding food if they search together. On a winter hike, you might see or hear no birds 90% of the time, then come across a "foraging flock" of a few dozen birds of several different species. They're out there!

I'm so glad that you can record in the National Park again. I missed them. I have done that hike to cataract falls but not to the cabin. The next time i need to go that way. I really like that cabin. I sure could live in a cabin like that. . The hike in the snow was very "cool." Very still and quiet. Thanks for taking us along with you on this adventure. I really miss the smokies. It is so good to see you both out and about again and feeling better. We were really concerned about you.

I loove hiking in the snow..I definitely wanna come to walk those trails..I loove cabins!!..I can’t believe u don’t have gloves on !! I need those track spike things u put on the bottom of shoes to keep u from slipping..I think people were shorter back then than people today..soo cozy and I love a porch to sit on..homesteading is hard but rewarding..

My how things have changed in the park, we used to drive our little white Jeep up to New Found Gap when there was a big snow in the area. Like I said, we were in a Jeep, but there were dozens of cars already up there when we got there. I don't ever remember seeing anyone stuck or off of a bluff. With all the concern for safety, I am surprised the Park Service would like Will and Dawn hike on that snowy trail without being totally wrapped in bubble wrap.... for their protection.

The trail we hiked was a well-maintained, well-traveled trail, and we chose the day carefully.
