What a pity a Tesla with high mileage behaves like an old iPhone: older it gets glitchier it becomes. I wish at least some EVs of today will keep some collectible value in years to come the way cars from 50ties and 60ties have it today.

@@Superman-xr1oh As a car Tesla is quite flimsy. It has a too demanding computer in it draining actively the battery just by doing weird calculations. Thus this dtainage of the battery is called vampire drain. Even having low mileage a Tesla in time (several years) will chew the battery capacity by vampire drain. Now you have it: a gadget instread of a car which was designed not to last in the first place.

Lighting does add an element of safety to a site 100%. Well lit areas are less likely to be frequented by people with ill intent because people/things are more visible so more likely to be seen if they attempt to commit a crime.

My opinion on lighting is that it allows you to see more hazards than without light. So it's not just safety for crime and being able to see who is around, but safety moving around as well in case there are obstacles in the parking lot. If humans could see at night better, it would be a wash, of course.

If you use scanmytesla obd you will see the screen charging rate is actually 5-7 kw above what’s the obd is showing going into the battery. So it’s 250 into the battery and 7 kw to the hvac and car systems

Great to see a Tesla road trip again! reminder for folks: Performance normally come w/ summer tires, do NOT do winter/cold/snow trips on the OEM summer tires, dangerous lack of traction and even possibility of failure (brittle rubber in cold)! Get all-season/weather or winter tires! (and, yes, make sure your wiper fluid is full :) ) PS I also always carry a little spray bottle of distilled water, and a couple micro-fiber cloths, to clean windshields, windows, bug/bird poo, and... rearview camera :) (I'm going to try the super-hydrophobic lens cover from Abstract Ocean, see if it helps in rain..)

I've never, never, had summer tires get brittle in winter. Been driving for over 50 years. Not sure where you got that from. Have a nice day. I used to get out of my old '64 Beetle in the winter and throw snow on the windshield to help the wipers out. My, how times have changed.

Very curious to hear about the MPP comfort suspension. Biggest complaint about my Model 3 is the overly harsh suspension, even just on the long range model. Biggest reason I didn’t buy the performance model was that the suspension was even worse. We had a 2019 (I think) Model 3 mid range while our 2022 M3LR was in the shop getting some electrical issues fixed this winter. I was expecting the RWD car to be more efficient than our AWD one, but it was actually substantially less efficient, especially as it got below freezing. My partner commutes about 40mi one way every night to do overnight shifts at work, and during freezing temps, he usually sees about 300-320wh/mi. In the 2019 M3MR, he was getting 380-400wh/mi driving the same route at around 25F. Was blown away how inefficient it was. The only 2 things I could think of on the M3MR that may negatively impact its efficiency vs our 2022 M3LR was that it had the 19” sport wheels and a PTC heater. I’m guessing the PTC heater was the biggest thing negatively impacting the efficiency, but I was blown away how much of an effect it had. I’m not sure if you’ve shown it, but I’d like to see an update range test on your M3P and show how much power it shows you’ve consumed. Either that or use one of the services available (like Tessie) to show how much battery capacity you have left.

Some do it yourselfers use a homemade deicing solution made of one part isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol and two parts water. The isopropyl alcohol sold in stores ranges from 50 to 90 percent purity. Higher purity provides a lower freezing point and better deicing capability. If the supercharger stations are mixed with V2 and V3 then it should be marked with an metal plate stating a version number : 150 or 250. If it’s stated as a 250 station, but it’s a mix station then new customers would definitely be frustrated with the lack of information about the station. Tesla battery information is key for owners to understand how to make the most efficient way for their long distance trips etc.

Your low range has nothing to do with battery degradation. 1st your studded tires are killing it due to rolling resistance. 2nd cold weather reduced battery capacity. 3rd heating can use 1kwh every 10-15 minutes when it's very cold outside.

Hey Kyle, does it strike you as odd - or anybody else for that matter - that some of the new info in the energy graph should be percentage points, not percent? For instance at the end of a trip it will tell me, the energy used on the current trip was 11 % or whatever. I think what they mean is that I have used 11 percentage point of the battery's capacity/SOC.

I love my M3LR. It is the best car I've ever had. I will be fine with only driving the Model 3 or Y for the rest of my life. I love it for these reasons- No annoying beeps Interior design and ergonomics that make sense most of the time (drive a FORD to understand horrible car ergonomics) I save $4,500 aud in fuel saving per year Accurate Charge calculations Ability to accès my 360 degree cameras on the car while I'm away using my phone Destination info on the map router (shows images of the destination and busy times) The wireless charger position plugging my charging cable into any outlet The octovalve is a cool piece of technology I never stress about a potential breakdown. I always feel safe that this car will always work. The sleek design still looks modern and doesn't show its age (its looked the same since 2015!) The supercharging network Camp Mode Pulling up, opening the door and hopping out without putting it in park or using a handbrake. It does all that for you automatically I love to just hang out in the car in the winter with the heated seats Phone key access is still futuristic to me My seats are still pure white after 3 years Christmas updates are the best Super comfortable seats Tesla doesn't require Apple car play or android auto. The in built system is better Pre-heating/cooling before I get in the car The glass ceiling somehow stays normal in scorching hot days I love the absolute minimalism (I wish I had the stalkless Highland M3) All the customisable options in the menu The full flat floor. (No drive shaft hump) Autopilot of course The acceleration modes (Normal and Chill) My friends love it till this day cons- -The air conditioner design allows for water to collect into the filter when turned on and collect bacteria, creating a stinky smell after a few months. (replace the $30 filter when this happens) -Australia doesn't want electric cars so they don't incentivise, resulting in no supercharges in middle and North Australia -The Wiper sensor sucks. I have to activate it manually to make it work in high downpour -The wireless charger creates too much heat in my iPhone, Unless I flip it upside down. This must align the magnet more accurately -The rear windows don't go all the way down -audio sounds too front forward even when I set the audio to be a little further back in the car. My previous cars had a full cabin sound. -The material quality isn't as good as a Mercedes for the same price. Even after these cons, other cars I've had have a list 3x the size. This car is the best by far out of all I've had in the past. Had a couple drinks so far but man, Tesla makes the coziest cars. I don't see any other car company making a truly comfortable, reliable and exciting experience. I hope the afford the Cybertruck in the future. If it ever comes to Australia
