Yo, I'm not a beginner so I think I can help, I dont do any vocal training or practices, I also take really shit care of my voice, but some things to keep in mind. 1. Try not to scream from your stomach cause it could seriously mess it up like it did mine. 2. Everyone has their own style, so dont get mad if you dont sound exactly like someone but you can use their singing techniques to try and get a similar sound. And the MOST IMPORTANT THING of ALL 3. Its not about the sound or quality of your voice, it's about the fun or enjoyment you get out of it. Have a beautiful day, godbless you.

sometimes you have to work around the melodies to fit your voice. my favorite band is bullet for my valentine, but my voice won't match Tuck's. So I can sing most verses like him but when he goes up for the chorus, I have to go down, sounds weird, so I play their songs 2 or 3 notes bellow so I can sing 'in a straight line', if that makes any sense.

I would suggest that you sing as much as you can to get familiar with what your voice can do. I would avoid comparing yourself to other singers, each singer has it's strenghts and weaknesses. Also practicing vocal scales will help you lots with your pitch so you can then focus more on the emotion and performance. I would also suggest Speech Level Singing lessons, I took some for about 2 years and it helped.
