Thanks for this in depth video, definitely getting one! Can use also for my sons travel baseball games-attach to outfield fence and to ground. Have been using heavy freestanding shelters. 3 games per day in the heat. .. shade is priceless! Will be taking on Appalachian Trail too!

They are fun. Now I think I need to get out in some really crappy weather and see how to make a tarp work but it would be real hard to not take a tent. I think you should do it.

Awesome review Jacko! Wow, I am really impressed with that tarp...I might just have to pick one of those up in the near future. You know how you were saying that you and I have similar tastes in gear...well this one is right on! It's funny that you posted this because I was just camping this past weekend and swinging around in my hammock brainstorming some tarp ideas. I really like this one, and the price seems reasonable. Oh and that last configuration was a killer setup! Nice work man! Thanks a lot for sharing and congrats on 400 subs bro! -Loch

Moss Stone Woodlore Thanks my friend. Yea the tarp is an absolute beauty. I just wish the camera picked up the finish and true color but I think I filmed it in bad lighting. Even though this is not a traditional canvas tarp it feels very bushcrafty... so to speak. As always thank you for watching and commenting. -Jacko

MuddyTigerOutdoors Just ordered a Snugpak All Weather Shelter! Should be here tomorrow and I may have a chance to sneak up to the mountains this weekend to test it out :D Thanks a lot for the review, I had been in the market for a good hammock tarp and your review helped me pull the trigger on one finally...I love all of the different options with this piece of kit. Really looking forward to trying it out. Have you had a chance to take it out on a camping trip yet ? -Loch

Awesome brother. I'm glad to hear it. I haven't had the chance to take it out for at least an overnighter. It's been remaining cats and dogs here for the last 2 weeks, and we still have thunderstorms forecasted for the next 2 weeks... First chance I get I'm going to get out and get some dirt time.
@MossStoneWoodlore9 жыл бұрын
I bet you guys get some amazing thunderstorms down there...I am kind of a weather nerd and my brothers and I chase some storms around here...bet you guys get some awesome views of the storms down there! Oh one quick question, in the last configuration it looks like used a small round stone for the front tie out...did you find that the nylon kept that shape after you took the shelter down ? As in, is the material really stretchy having a kind of "memory" which would leave a stretched out spot where the rock "was" etc. ?
@muddytigeroutdoors47909 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the storms can get pretty crazy around here. We've had flash flood and River flood warning for over a week straight. You can't see much of a spectacle with storms around here because there's very little elevation so the clouds tend to hover relatively low and move quite fast. That's why we have so many tornadoes. On the tarp I actually used an acorn that I found on the ground. I didn't retain the shape much afterwards but then again I didn't inspect it much. I'll have to take it out and see if it did. I doubt the material retains much memory permanently because it would also get deformed when pulling tension with the guylines.

Great review! I just acquired this same tarp myself. It is a great weight saver. I am new to making tarp shelters. I was wondering how you made the last one in your video. I was trying to figure out how you made that top flap above the door as it appeared to have staked towards the rear on both sides. Any help would be appreciated.

Question. Can you set this tarp up with a hammock in lean to or storm configuration with a little overhang to provide full rain protection? I want to be able to set this up in diamond and storm mode for the bright n shiny says to the darn and rainy days.

im seeing this type of tarp on amazon for going prices of 138.00 to 149.00 so to get this tarp for about 50.00 is a great buy and you can double up on them for a two is one, and one is none situation, so you cant go wrong... i just bought one and im anxious to set it up! all weather ripstop nylon tarps are extremely expensive so i dont see any problems in buying this 10 x 10 tarp.......

Nice tarp, but the championing of paracord isn't all it's made out to be. If you setup your shelter, and it rains, the paracord will stretch, then your tarp will sag.

Jacko, Looks like you covered most tarp setups very well. A tarp is a handy, multi-function item for sure. The snaps are a great idea for a bivy-like setup.
