The whole crew. I wish they could call every game. I watch a tone of games every year. SNY Mets crew is the only one that spends a lot. A LOT of time talking about and praising the other team. Along with l jews around the mlb. It's what a broadcast should be. Teams don't talk a whole lot about other teams and sure as hell don't praise them. It's embarrassing to listen to some teams.

Think about this though: before this, no Mets pitcher had ever thrown a no-hitter while they were on the mets, and we clearly had enough good pitchers over the years. Nolan Ryan, arguably one of the best starting pitchers ever, threw 7 of them, but none of them with the Mets. Doc Gooden almost had one with the mets, but it didn't happen; he then gets one in 1996 with the Yankees. David Cone left the mets and got a fucking perfect game in '99. Tom Seaver debuted with the Mets but his one no-hitter was when he was with Cincinnati. In '07, John Maine had a no-hitter through 7 2/3. This game is one of my favorites as a mets fan, and one of the few high points in the low years between '06 and '14

+wcngm43 I have been thinking this too. They are all great but Syndergaard's stuff is the best in terms of raw talent. There is still a lot of work to do but he has a no hitter or perfect game in his future. There are regularly a couple of inning in a row where he is unhitable and then he will make a few mistakes. He needs to learn how to string them all together.

Johan actually got really hurt when Mets utility infielder Justin Turner stepped on his ankle when he was trying to cover first base a couple weeks later. That lead to Johan relying on his upper body to drive the ball off the mound ala Pedro Martinez on the Mets back in 2006 after he hurt his ankle slipping in the shower. Pitchers rely a lot on their legs for their power. Johan had his legs until his teammate fucked his ankle up a couple starts later.

@KnickKnack074 жыл бұрын
Give me a fucking break. One game didn't end his career. He was on the downswing anyway. It is the strict pitch counts that are CAUSING all the injuries...not protecting against them. A pitcher knows he is coming out after 100 pitches and he figures he can throw as hard as he can every pitch. So, like an idiot, he throws 99 MPH fast balls to the opposing pitcher with 2 outs and nobody on and a 4 run lead. Meanwhile, pitchers like Nolan Ryan who knew they were going 8 innings or more every game would dial it back and throw at full speed maybe 20 pitches a game. Only when needed. It wasn't just against the opposing pitcher that he would dial it back. It was against anyone with 2 outs and nobody on. And an arm and shoulder can tale 140 pitches where only 20-30 are full strength a hell of a lot better than it can take 100 pitches were 80-90 are full strength.

I am a Mets fan and nowadays this would not be a no-hitter. This was before they had instant replay and there was a ball called a foul that was clearly a hit for the Cards. That said, in 85, I believe Dwight Gooden threw what should have been a no-hitter, but the official scorer at home yet, called a hit on what should have been an error by Ray Knight. Mets have about 32 one-hitters, which is far ahead of every other team.

I didn't know which one would happen first in my lifetime. The Mets would pitch a no-hitter, or the Cubs would win the World Series. I guess Steve Bartman took care of the other one to make sure this happened first. There was a foul ball in this game that should have been called a hit, but it all evened out. A few nights later, the Mets were in Tampa against the Rays and had a one-hitter that should have been an error.

I've looked at the comments here, and a number of you are correct when you point out BUMtran (Still upset about taking strike 3 in '06 and being non-emotional about it along with his Astros cheating) should have had a hit, and replay back then would have confirmed it. That being said, however, the Mets do have a no-hitter in a game that was a one-hitter. I'm not talking about Gooden's one-hitter in '84 that Ray Knight didn't attempt to play, but if he had, it probably would have been a tough play and at worst could have resulted in an error with a runner on second. No, several nights after this game, R.A. Dickey pitched a one-hitter in Tampa against the Rays that the Mets lobbied should have been a no-hitter. I was at the game with front row seats, and it was an error by David Wright. It all evens out in the end.
