Great ride Phil. Your up in my territory now mate. The old Glenn Innes- Grafton road was used to bring the wool bales down to Grafton and loaded on to ships and transported to Sydney. The tunnel was built in the mid 1860's. Imagine a trip with bullocks and wagon! It took a month or so to do the trip, one way.👍👍🇦🇺
@MidCoastAdventures Жыл бұрын
Cool Neil, cheers for info on the tunnel 👍 Yep, bullock team, camping trail side, and eventually getting Grafton I guess. Different world of hardship back then! Cheers mate 👍

I'm inspired by the beautiful Australian country you are enjoying on your 300 rally, I'm 68 years old and travel mostly on the highway here in the US on my harley roadglide. Thinking seriously about the dual sport so as to see more of the back country. Keep up the good work, safe travels!

Just as an aside, there's a nice road off of Glenn Elgin Rd called Ten Mile Rd with a closed sign on it. It's not closed. It may have been when the bridge was down but that's been repaired but they haven't removed the sign. Funny about that. There's a few gates but just leave them as you found them.

You have one of those very enjoyable adventure bike channels. It's always a joy to view your productions. You just rode straight through my beloved favourite region, along the Boyd River. I know some spectacular remote rides around there, that would blow your mind. Local knowledge rides. Let me know if you are ever interested. Thanks for all the video productions and all the effort you put into them. I know it's a lot of work.

@kdegraa Жыл бұрын
@@MidCoastAdventures that’s cool. Did you explain in a video why you traded in the big DR for the smaller Honda? If so which video is it? The Honda looks really good and I’m sure it feels much lighter and more refined but it doesn’t have the same sound when you turn the throttle up.
@MidCoastAdventures Жыл бұрын
@@kdegraa I'll do a video on "who the Rally is for", looking at pros and cons of a smaller adventure bike. Bare in mind ANY motorbike can be an adventure bike, it's all about what you expect from the bike you choose. Cheers mate

Pulled out of buying a new CRF300 rally because of two concerns one money ..the other the perceived lack of long haul touring at 100km/h on tarmac . I bought a second hand KLR ..but watching your video , starting to hanker again getting a Honda .
@MidCoastAdventures Жыл бұрын
Hi mate. I guess it depends of what you want out of a bike. The KLR (like the DR I had for years) is a great allrounder with power to carry a fair bit of gear. The CRF is also a great all-rounder- just not the power, or heavy load carrying ability. As for highway speed and long distance travel, I'd happily go around Australia on one. The 6th gear is perfect for cruising at 100 kays plus 👍
@SomewhereInside Жыл бұрын
Cheers I kept forgetting about the 6 gears.
