So deep is the night No moon tonight No friendly star To guide me with its light Be still my heart Silence lest my love should be returning From a world, far apart So deep is the night Oh, lonlely night On broken wings My heart has taken flight And left the dream In my dream, our lips are blending Will my dream be never ending Will your memory haunt me 'til I die ('til I die) Alone am I, deep into the night Waiting for the light Alone am I I wonder why Deep is the night In my dream, our lips are blending Will my dream be never ending Will your memory haunt me 'til I die ('til I die) Alone am I, deep into the night Waiting for the light Alone am I I wonder why Deep is the night

There's always a hint of Richard Tauber's Austrian accent when other tenor's sing this - one of Tauber's signature songs. This will always be Tauber's song.

This is the perfect song and lyrics for The Composer's Dream / The Moonlight Nymph musical multimedia play show where the composer is visited by poet publisher singers who show their lyrics to him and ask permission to attach them to his music and he looks at it and crosses out one word 'no' and writes 'full' 'moon tonight' line and replaces 'blending' with 'kissing' and the singer sings it in English then the other singer shows his lyrics but the composer asks 'what does it mean? But it is sung also in Italian. Hope this beautiful breakthrough attaching poetry lyrics to music will be effective in recalling his dream the night before of a flying dancing nymph.

This was not composed as a song, it was composed about 200 years ago by Fryderyk Chopin as a piano piece called Sadness

While I think he has a lovely voice and tenor timbre..he has not got this song right, far too much licence to pull the time around - far too much rubato...why not sing it as Chopin intended the melody to be?
@65minimom6 жыл бұрын
Lorna Kelly - How do you know what Chopin intended? Perhaps you are prefer the interpretation that is familiar to you? I think Finbar has done a beautiful rendition adapted for his voice & message which is what an artist does.
@inesdeerausquin56586 жыл бұрын
Half the point in Romantic music is the emotional expression. Chopin and rubato are practically synonymous! What's wrong with his taking some time? He's actually pretty steady most of the time.
