I really enjoy watching your videos. You are very pleasant and I like how you laugh so often. I have loved toy soldiers since I was a kid and I still have all of my soldiers from my childhood. I have added to my collection as an adult, but have stopped to lack of money and storage! Keep up the great work, I love seeing all the soldier sets that I never knew even existed!

Amazing collection, I learn so much watching your videos.. so much I missed growing up in the mid to late 70's and early 1980's that I would've loved as a child.

Thank you for your dedication for classic toys and games. The memories that these bring back are very special, wonderful, and sometimes even important. It brings you back to a time when your biggest worries were to decide if you going to play with your Mego Superheroes action figures, maybe set up a Slot Car track, Race your Hot Wheels cars, make a huge battlefield with your Army Men, Tanks, Jeeps, and other necessities and variables, or ????? I remember back when I was a little boy growing up in Milwaukee during the 70's. I think that there were some Army Men playsets around? One of them wasn't an "Army" type set. It was actually more of a older group of warriors. Knights in Shining Armor kind of warriors. If I remember correctly there was a playset that included a 🏰🏰Castle🏰🏰 with a wooden fence. I forget if it had a Drawbridge or not. But the one thing it had that I really wanted was the Catapults with plastic boulders. You would set up your side. Your buddy or buddies could set up their sides, and then the boulders would start flying. Now I'm not sure how much of this particular playset existed. I'm hoping that your channel can shed some light on this particular playset. I'm going to look through your past videos. I'm betting that you've already made some video either about that set or something like it. Those little plastic bags filled with little Army men was a toy that was cheap enough that Mom didn't mind letting you get during a trip to the grocery store, but those small, "cheap" little toys could give you a LOT of fun and if you were lucky enough to have the bigger playsets and a bigger variety of Army men, especially in different colors. I forget what colors were with which country's army? There was tan if I remember correctly. Blue? Green was the main color. Whatever the case these little guys gave me hours and hours of fun! Using one thing, my imagination! Thank you again for all of your hard work and dedication. It is greatly appreciated. Take care and God Bless.

Thanks a lot for this post. Makes me happy to hear that what I do is appriciated. Also love hearing stories about peoples childhood memories about toys. My mom was a bit more stringent with the money so I couldn´t just get whatever toy I wanted. But my dad who I think realy enjoyed the toys that he bought me (like me with my son) always let me have one Matchbox car when he picked me up from kindergarden. It wasn´t that often that it happened, but when it did it was great. He always wanted to go to the smoke shop and get some tobacco for his pipe and they had a pretty good selection of Matchbox cars. He told me in later years he could never say no when I asked. Probably because he realy liked them as much as I did. Not sure about the Castle set your talking about. As I grew up in Sweden we didn´t have the same toys as you guys in the US. Some were the same but lot´s weren´t. We didn´t ever get any Marx toys over here. I would Google all the Marx sets and see if any rings a bell. Like you said maybe it was a mix of different sets and toys that you guys kinda made up youself. I´ll have a look on my end to see if I can figure it out. There was a game released by Tomy in 1983 called "Crossbows and Catapults" that did what you remember but I guess that would be a later game then what you had going on. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crossbows_and_Catapults

I like retro things too, I grew up in the 90s and early 00s and I used to own some right awesome things. My dad threw all my vintage things in the bin. Im just glad I still have my soldiers. I collect a lot of BMC soldiers, do you remember the old pixel games on those old computers? The 90s were a golden age of kids entertainment, I never really grew up!

Love your videos! Nice to see someone sharing their passion and adding some positivity to the internet. I grew up in the 70s as well and have been following your path, reacquiring some toys I had and even more I wish I had back then. It’s fun to mix them with the modern stuff I collect as well. Looking forward to your next video!

Jerry, this is a magnificent collection and all of it (at least this part) was accumulated in 2024! Fantastic! I use to have the Airfix Coastal Defense set. I have no idea what happened to it. Also, I had a Zulu War set that is gone! Where did they go? Anyway, I really enjoy seeing the box artwork. Your house is quickly becoming a museum of cool stuff!

I remember the Airfix combat playsets from the 70's with great fondness as well as the Lego police station. Endless hours plotting attacks and counter attacks or playing out scenarios from war comics, which were very popular in UK at the time.

Those forts look superb if made as a proper kit, and painted. I'd like to get the Fort Sahara again - I have had two in the past: one I converted into a WW2 Afrika Korps outpost, and the other was given a makeover to look like a desert building that could have been on Tatooine, from the original 'Star Wars' movie. Both of these, and a lot of other cool (to me, at least) stuff, 'vanished' from the loft after I left home. 😆😆😆

Amazing video I started to collect in early May last year. I spent a lot of money you must’ve spent well that’s your secret but so long as you’re happy keep making the videos will keep watching it’s an expensive hobby.
@toysoldiernostalgia2 күн бұрын
I don`t think it has to be a super expensive hobby if you collect sensibly. Unfortunatly I don`t. But at least most of the things we buy should keep it`s value over time. Other stuff I`ve collected I made quit a bit of money on. Like my Vietnam collection or Lego minifigures and sets. My son sold 13 roman Lego figures that we bought for about €25 and sold for €130.

Happy New Jerry. I stop buying 1/76 scale Airfix because the older sets (ACW guys) seemed to be even more brittle than 1/32 scale sets from that same era (early 1970s). As a kid these were very special to me, kind of a shame really. Cheers!

Maybe I have been lucky but lots of my 1/76 scale sets are pretty good. Cheers :)

2024 was an incredible year for you Jerry, thanks for sharing your fantastic acquisitions with us! What do you have planned for 2025? I say wargaming! You have to start playing with all this stuff! Cheers❤
@toysoldiernostalgia2 күн бұрын
Me and my son do a bit of wargaming. Wings of Glory, Memoir44, Axis and Allies. Wargaming for 2025 will probably be trying out Sails of Glory, World of Tanks and going back to Squad Leader. You?
@MorrisHarris-sr5prКүн бұрын
Hi Jerry, I hope that you're sticking to your New Year resolution to collect less for a while. Concentrate, as you suggest, on perfecting the presentations of what you have collected, so far. One suggestion: you might want to consider prerecording good close-ups and enlarged details of box art and objects and dropping them into your presentations in the editing process. This is a necessary learning curve if you wish to take what you present to the next level. Also, fellow collectors will learn and pick up more from what you demonstrate and what you say. Good luck' 👍

I´ll look into it.

Amazing collection. Made me drooling with envy. If I happened to live nearby, you'll be sick of me coming over every day. The civvies figures, is it modern or wartimes period? Out of curiosity...have u ever seen French Resistance figures?
@toysoldiernostalgia2 күн бұрын
Never seen any french resistance figures made in the 60-70s. I think there are some made more recent though. I think you could easily use the civillian set for WW2. I mean they were made just 16-17 years after the war so clothing should be kinda the same.
