The reason Dong X was so inconsistent in coa is bc he's the standard. Everyone in coa trains to specficslly go against him, and their hunters study their strats. It's why he got sweeped by certain teams. Hes not inconsistent, he's TOO consistent. Makes it easy for teams to study his techniques and learn to predict him.

I don't remember where I heard this from, but from what I know, JP players are more experimental when it comes to their persona builds and lineups. They're more willing to create very 'out there' decisions that CN or NA/EU are not as keen on making. That's why they pick Ivy, a character who has not been played long, over someone as reliable as Opera Singer (at least from my observation). CN players typically prefer the safer options because, like you said, they're more consistent. It's a really interesting difference in preference.
