But thanks for sharing with us......you could have easily cut that part out and been your regular crazy self.....but sharing with others will help someone else. My mom died in June and I realized that my memories are the one thing I can hold on to and those will never go away. Things are just things but your love and memories are yours always. I miss my mother every day but she will always be with me just like your dad will always live in you and then in your children. I am really sorry for your loss, but he would be so proud of the husband, father and man you are.

Cullen -- As someone who lost both parents (many years apart) I have learned to embrace my memories whether happy or sad. Since we can't always control when and where our memories hit us, they can happen at anytime. A song, a store, cans of beer etc. can be enough to unleash many emotions. Embrace these times and share with others. It can help. Thanks for continuing to open up. It's appreciated.

This vlog was so touching, Cullen. I just watched your I Love You Dad vlog and it mirrored so many of my emotions in October 2015 when my dad was diagnosed with bladder cancer. I felt so helpless; I questioned God, I felt angry at my dad for smoking for decades and not taking better care of himself. I remember coming home from spending some time with them on my daughter's first Easter Sunday and I sobbed because I hadn't thought to take a photo of her with her Poppy on what may be their first- and last - Easter together. This past June we got the news that the Interferon had done its job and he was officially cancer-free. I am so thankful for every extra day I've had with him since, but also have an always-looming fear of his cancer coming back...he never fully quit smoking and now I'm fairly certain he's back to smoking just as much as he was before his diagnoses. He is like you described your dad. Ex-military and incapable of admitting weakness, stubborn as all hell. Sorry for the long comment! I just wanted you to know I understand very much the emotions you must have been feeling in letting go of those beers. I thank you for being so candid so that other people know they're not alone either.

My momma lost her father just 10 days ago. The saddest part is he wasn't involved much in her life while she was growing up but just months before he passed they got to patch things up. She forgave him and he expressed regret for not being there for her. She had hoped to care for him and bring him down south to the country like he wanted, but unfortunately he didnt make it. It was so sad. I'm glad the last thing we all said to him was that we loved him no matter what.

I completely get where you are coming from with the beers, my hubby passed away in his sleep the day after Thanksgiving of 15. I have gotten rid of some of some of his stuff and had memory blankets made from his clothes for my kids for Christmas this year. He had a pair of shorts on the bathroom floor. I hated when he left them there/ but I can't pick them up and get rid of them. They still sit there 14 months later. I just can't do it!

My mom's mother passed away when she was 12 and she always says the thing that got her the most emotional was coming home to an almost finished book on her nightstand. Ever since she has never been able to go to bed if she is close to finishing a book. It's now become a family tradition, so everytime we are about to finish a book and it's late at night, we get to think of her!

Seems like so simple when you pause like that in life to remember your special loved one. I lost my dad in 2007 to a tragic tractor accident and still things make me remember him after almost 10 yrs. The way Katie switched from "don't tell them how any I ate..." to "CULLEN BROUGHT HOME 18 DONUTS!" was hilarious to me! Proactively throwing her husband straight under the bus! It was classic. I was the same way, exhausted, until I knew my little ones were in bed, asleep, and not getting up again. Then I got a second wind because it was ME time, and it was priceless.

I can relate to how difficult it was for you to throw away your Dads" beer. My best friend was murdered when we were 24. She had a jar of Tasters Choice in my refrigerator so that she could have her coffee ( Dr. Pepper is my coffee) when she was at my house. I moved 4 times, always with her coffee in tow. I just couldn't throw it away. It took me 8 years before I could let go of that jar. The day I did, I sat on the floor of my kitchen and cried for three or four hours. I am 64 now and I still think of that jar.

I never ever imagined my dad of 52 would be taken so quickly. I absolutely feel for you when it comes to the pain and hurt. My dad was always my favorite and will forever be. I took a few of his shirts after he passed and I will for sure be holding onto them forever. I'm not sure hot beer tho. Please know that I was crying right along with you and that I will continue to pray for you. By the way thank you so much for all the hard work you do in these vlogs they are truly amazing. Much love to you and your family and always remember the best memory of your dad is found in your heart. Since my dads passing I have realized that no object or item means more to me than the memories.

I know.. I was saying I never would have thought I would cry over beer and he told a story that made me do it. It was a beautiful and touching story and I really felt for him with all my heart :)

I cried with you Cullen. My parents are still living but they are not the same people. They are both in a Care Home because my mom has Severe Schizophrenia & my had has Parkinson's disease & Alzheimers. So this may sound weird but since they are not the same people I feel like I have lost them already. It's been extremely hard!

It is definitely tough, Cullen, you will never ever forget your dad and ever time you crack a new fresh bud light you can think of him. One day you'll be kicking it with a beer with Brooks having one too and thinking of him

KEEP THE BEER! You can pour it out (we do it here in California a lot. Pour some out on the ground for our friends/family that have passed on and say something in dedication to them) and just write on the can to keep.

Cullen I totally understand how you feel about the beer.. i have a can in my fridge that my son bought when i sent him to the store for me. He asked me not to let anyone drink it it was his.. a couple of days later he was killed in a car accident (not from drinking). i have had it for 5 yrs now and as long as i'm alive it will stay in my fridge.

I feel you Cullen...I lost my mom several years ago (and subsequently my dad and only sibling as well) and I am struggling to get rid of her address book that she carried around with her daily. It holds no information that I need, but I think it's just because she always had it with her and touched it daily (she doodled on it when on the phone and had ALL the information in there...if you knew my mom you knew about that address book). My brain knows it is just a "thing" my heart just isn't ready to let it go.
YOU HAVE SOME EXPLAINING TO DO!
