Those are nice and quiet. Should be able to hear problems during operation easier. That is a great advantage with any tractor. I don"t think people think about that much. Anyway, good for you Doc.

Been a couple of months. How is the tractor doing? Im mostly a letter series Farmall person. So I come across a not running 301 A JD with a mid mount sickle bar mower. Thinking I could put the mower on a Farmall. I buy it for $750. the engine is stuck. so i pull the oil pan and valve cover. No water evidence no stuck valves or bad bearings. Pull the spark plugs and the bore scope shows nice cyl walls. So I remove the starter and its burnt up. Place a pry bar in the flywheel teeth and it trys to move and i notice the fan belt flex? loosen the fan belt and it turns free. Alternator turns. the fan dont turn water pump froze up. Fixed the starter and water pump. and its a joy to operate. I dont have to look back when mowing. 3 cyl gas starts on the coldest days. Even a blind hog finds a acorn once in a while.

G,day doc is the pto 540/100 , l think the pto shaft is reversable you pull it out and put in the 1000 hole , we had jd 1010 diesel in 1964... l was just a little kid at the time...l hpoe this helps ...cheers from AUSTRALIA....

If it didn't have any issues, it never would've been for sale. You have to expect little things when you buy something used. Many times, even brand new stuff has problems.

The temperature gage might not be broken. It could be that your tractor does not have a thermostat.

Glad you got the tractor you liked. Yep buying any used equipment can be chancy for sure. But you can fix these yourself so that is a plus. Thanks for the videos.

Well…..you bought a tractor, drove it (safely) eight miles, and there are a few minor snags with it. That’s not a big hardship. It ISN’T new, it has good tires and the rims aren’t beat up, yes, there’s a small fuel leak and it needs an oil change. The machine is sound and it’ll either be a terrific keeper or it’ll make you a few sheckels if you decide to sell it. If you sell it, the new owner will have a good machine. Haven’t seen a new video lately…hope all is well with you.

If a tractor was sitting for a long time it will start leaking oil when you use it

We own a 2010 Wheel industrial tractor with a loader and backhoe. Diesel engine And its a hyd fluid leaking POS. The power steering dont work and the fluid comes out the top of the steering collum. Only made then for three years starting in 1962. I havent been able to find any parts. Dont buy one
