Best of luck with it. My 2013 SP with 6500km broke down and was waiting 3 months to get it sorted. Only got it back yesterday 18th Spetember..They installed a new ecu + a wiring loom. It turned out it was the clocks that caused the problem. All good now and looking forward to many more KM's. Keep the faith. Kieron (Ireland)

Morten Jamne Rieju RR 50, also 2004. No tuning. Bought it, fixed some electric problems(lights), repainted, used for 100km, turned out that the cylinder was old and had no compression. Bought a new one. Oil pump broke but I didn't notice, bike ran without 2T oil. Another cylinder+piston. after 200km, a bearing broke in the engine, fucked up ANOTHER FUCKING CYLINDER. Disassembled and renewed the complete engine and the new(current) season came. it worked for like 500km when the chain started making sound like a train.(I used in on offroad so it was my mistake) No problem, I went to the city to buy a new one. While on the way, the high temperature light started flashing so I stopped and the radiator was empty, however, there was steam coming out of the exhaust. Turned out that the water from the radiator made its way to the cylinder (wet spark plug, couldn't start) and the gearbox. and these are only the bigger problems. But I'll get an Aprilia sx 50, yes, it's expensive as fuck, bt I don't want to get fucked over again by a crappy bike.

It doesn't always take thousands of laps to learn how different the bikes feel. Just a passion and a 'listening' skill many don't possess. You 'listen' to the bike with your body. Some of us have that all with cars, too. As in, put someone in a brand new car, have them drive around a while, put 100-200 pounds in the trunk on one side or the other, and that drive will know where it is after driving a few minutes.

I have a 14 hm and my cousin has the 14 sp. we interchange bikes often and the biggest difference is in the ride. The sp actually rides a little nervously on choppy roads compared to the base and at highway speeds I prefer the base. But the sp comes alive in the canyons/track. There's just a noticeable bump in confidence, but I attribute most of that to the stickier rubber.

Grats man, hope it's as good as it looks. The suspension is probably adjustable if it's too tough and you want it more like the other one. preload can adjust ride height too, there's lots of videos on how to adjust it properly and people mess it up all the time.

johnnnewmex the problems were only in the bikes he got, not a general problem, and nope, the 796 is as barebones as it gets, the engine is very mellow, its the same engine as the scrambler, is air cooled, so it has all the quirks of any air cooled engine
