Good on you for making a decision you thought was best for you, not just based on the prestige and pedestal Oxford is built on. I'm a Y13 student taking politics and your videos genuinely have helped me so much and it definitely showed on my mock exams. Things are a bit uncertain because of exam cancellations so I'm just happy I'm lucky enough that my firm choice is an unconditional offer from my local university, so it helps ease the nerves a bit. Thanks so much for your videos and the help you've given me throughout the last few months.

Can totally relate to your background, Emily. I was hungry most of the time, no personal room or bed, unemployed parents. Oxford is openly elitist, racist, and sexist, if I may add. A friend of mine got into masters there. During the orientation, they took male students to the library but offered cake and tea to their female students( philosophy department btw)

I come from a similar background as well, but it is ridiculous to suggest that Oxford is “openly elitist, racist and sexist”. It is, in fact, slander. Is a university that accepts people with lower grades purely because of their background elitist (contextual offers)? No. Is a university that accepts more people from BME backgrounds as a percentage than Britain itself? No. Is a university that accepts equal numbers of men and women and treats them equally despite the inherent bias in the education system towards men racist? No. I am afraid I simply don’t believe your friends story unless it happened over 30 years ago.
