The MiG-23ML is probably either the best or second best rank 7 premium, depending on your views on the F-4S. Either way it's the quick way to the MiG-29 and Yak-141, and is a pretty decent jet at 11.3.

One thing i feel is worth pointing out about the radar is that its MTI mode doesnt have IFF The amount of 23MLs I've seen trying their luck in sim keep teamkilling everyone is insane

​@@RT42069yeah, I managed to rack up a 100k SL bill from trying sim in the F4S, with 3 TK's. Luckily I had afew 10k wagers and a T14 to earn it back (getting 5 kills with the T14 is criminally easy) but still hurt.

At close range in my experiance r24r is better than aim7f as a missile but it loses radar wise to f4s.

the R-24R is a beautiful missile, but the radar on the mig23 shafts it. you can out joust an aim7 from closer ranges, however in a longer range engagement the 7 would win

One of my most annoying matches. One guy left, just hovers around his airfield. Comes out to kill an AI and as soon as a player gets near him runs to his airfield. He’s already gonna lose on points. He does this 3 times. I ended up just chasing him back and firing ALL the ammo I can before getting pilot sniped by airfield AA. Right after that I get the kill notification. Definitely told him he was an arsehole and a 🐈‍⬛

Since alot of top tier is just missile lobbing, even with a terrible crew you can still do well. And you should quickly be able to train up the crew after a couple dozen games in it.

This is what I'm talking about for F5C players such as myself. They can't do ANYTHING against the Mig 23s, F14s and Tornadoes. Matchmaking for F5Cs is awful

Ehhh not really the F-5 is a very capable plane still sure the missiles are fucked but the guns and FM can still carry you even in a up tier, but you’re 10.3 not 11.3 so not every game is 11.3, you also can’t fight the F-14 anymore, the tornado you can out turn easily the mig-23 you can also outturn if you know what you’re doing.

I think it would be great if the radar actually kept locks. Even in headons in MTI it loses locks, so the Radar missiles are trashed. I don't think I've ever killed anyone with a radar missile. I only use all IR missiles now, which puts me at a HUGE disadvantage having to get close enough, because F-16 always just slam me with an Aim-7F from every angle. I've tried notching and chaff a dozen times and they still hit me every time. It's still a great aircraft and very powerful in the right hands, but is severely punished by the BR. IRL the F-5 could run circles around the MiG-23 and absolutely demolish them, yet Gaijin thinks it's okay to have the 23 a full BR higher than the F-5, and have it face F-16 and MiG-29... Gaijin honestly have NO idea what they are doing with this game. Also having F-4 Phantom IIs fight against the aircraft that were created to replace them? What in the actual hell, Gaijin?..

I hate to say it, but the Mig 23 ML is incredibly strong. The radar is quite nice and the R-24R works great for jousting. An F-5E can do nothing to a good Mig 23 ML/MLA player. The R24T is nice, but doubling up on IR feels like one hand is tied behind my back. The Mig-23ML can compete with the F-16 and the F-14, its really the Mig-29 that gives it the most trouble. It all boils down the skill issue, which is not the most terrible thing as that can be fixed
