Although my main theory is that Truthless Recluse is Pure Vanilla Cookie fully corrupted, this theory that he is a future version of the character or an illusion made by Shadow Milk Cookie also has a strong possibility of being true. It would be so in character for Shadow Milk Cookie to deceive the cast like this, and the fact that the corrupted version was seen in the inn with the regular Pure Vanilla Cookie just adds even more evidence to this theory being true. No matter which theory ends up being correct, we are in for a wild ride in the next update. In fact, I actually would be happy if my theory was wrong, and this one ended up being true. I just love a good surprise narratively, and this twist would really be cool.

so all in all; it’s basically kind of like the dark enchantress/white lily thing but a bit different because dark enchantress was a separate being before kind of merging with white lily. Truthless Recluse, on the other hand, is pure vanilla but as you said an “alter” of him. The pure vanilla *we* knew is still possible to bring back, but for now he’s just swallowed by deceit. TR *IS* the “real” pure vanilla, just another version of him. it’s a bit of a hard concept to grasp but yeah😭

I think in ep 8 Gingerbrave and the rest are going to go deeper into the spire trying to find Shadow Milk to ,,uncorrupt” TR meanwhile PV will wake up in the abyss and try to find a way out. Shadow milk will almost win, but then PV will have a flashback (like DC and GC), get his awakened form and defeat Shadow milk until he uses his shadow form to escape. But that’s just my theory.

I honestly feel like while that theory is good, I feel that pure vanilla is at least still corrupted to some degree. Devsis said that this story would not be like any of the others, and if pure vanilla was corrupted, would prove that. Also, with us likely getting a costume as this for pure vanilla (As seen from some leaks, crk leaks most of the time end up true), so it would make sense that this is still the real pure vanilla, just in a potentially corrupted, or even possessed state, considering what also happened in the cutscene, especially when it seemed like pure vanilla was broken in half, the other half being shadow milk cookie. Overall, thats just my opinion!! :)
