I'm glad Origins is getting love. It's a solid game that works well with what it had. The only issue it had was the bad glitches when it launched. I'll take the Deathstroke boss fight from that game over the lazy tank fight in Arkham Knight any day.

Arkham City was the first of the series I ever played. It was also one of the first games I got through PS Plus. To this day, it's still one of the best games ever offered through the service. The whole time I was playing it I kept reminding myself that it was "free". Felt like I had stole something. lol

When it comes to the combat... it fits so damn well for The Batman! God, these trilogies really set the standard for actual superheroes games having the potential to be outstanding. Everyone of them were freaking awsome. I'm glad Spider-Man was the next person to have that same treatment... i have a good feeling that Spider-Man 2 will be insomniac's Arkham City for this trilogy.

No, Origins is the worst game, it's not has fast as the rocksteady games, they gave them the code to Arkham City and still couldn't get it right, you can't even glide high and the grapple doesn't work nearly as well moving around the map which is why they put fast travel in the game, Arkham City didn't need fast travel, and Arkham Knight is three times as big as the map in those games and doesn't have fast travel, because moving around the map is actually fun, WB montreal sucks, which is why Gotham Knight sucked

You're 100% spot on. I fired up Arkham Knight on my PC late last year just to mess around, that game still looks like something that could have been released in the last 2-3 years. It's an 8 year old game! Yes they overused the batmobile, but the gameplay holds up beautifully. The fighting mechanics and traversal above the city using the grappling hook and cape gliding never ceases to be fun. These are still the GOAT superhero games to me, including Spider-man 2018.

I still think Arkham knight is the best because of the gameplay and Gotham city, but yeah I agree Asylum is a mark in history of video games and City has the best story overall.

I also love the games that much that I got the platinum trophy for all 3 Rocksteady games, then got all achievements on Xbox for all 3, then did it again on both consoles with the first 2 remasters. Sad I know but I love the games that much. I can never get enough.

The arkham series including origins and blackgate aree games i love replaying. Same with the new doom games, witcher 3, cyberpunk 2077 and a good amount of the Assassin's Creed games. Just some of my favorite franchises and single player experiences. Juust so much fun to play through time and time again

I replayed this series last year too, and I agree, this games have aged really well, they're still as great as I remember them. Replaying them reminded me of the fact that these games made me fall in love with gaming. If not for the Arkham Series, I highly doubt I would've become the video game lover I am today. I also pretty much agree on your take on the games too. Asylum had a unique atmosphere that no other Arkham game managed to recapture, it was the blueprint for all Arkham games to come, City had the best story imo and significantly improved on all gameplay aspects from Asylum, the Mr Freeze boss fight is still one of my favourite boss fights in all of gaming (try playing that boss fight on new game plus, it is significantly harder). Origins was a mixed bag for me, I liked the Christmas setting, I loved the boss fights, I loved what they did with Bane, but I found it disappointing that they basically copy pasted the Clayface Joker twist, with the Joker posing as Black Mask twist (still liked Troy Baker's performance though), that Shiva and Deadshot were just side missions instead of being main story boss fights, and that Origins as a whole felt more like a Arkham City 1.5, with very little improvements to gameplay, and half of the map being just literally Arkham City's map just changed to look more Christmas-like. Knight was also a mixed bag, but for different reasons. Unlike Origins, Knight brought a lot of improvements to gameplay, combat and traversal, the city was an entirely new and original map. I'd say that in terms of combat alone, Knight is easily the best Arkham game for me, it's addictive as fuck. In terms of graphics, also easily the best Arkham game. Unfortunately, unlike Origins, Knight had no real boss fights, aside from the fights where you team up with Nightwing against Killer Croc, with Robin against Albert King, and with Catwoman against the Riddler. All other "boss fights" are just tank fights, with that Cloudburst tank fight against the Arkham Knight being one of the worst boss fights I've ever seen in a video game, and it's even worse that it gets reused later as a boss AGAINST FUCKING DEATHSTROKE of all people. Had mixed feelings on the story too, I liked everything that was related to the Joker and Scarecrow, as well as Gordon, but felt that the Arkham Knight himself was the most underwhelming part of the game ironically enough. And finally, I'm also mixed on the Batmobile, I like it as an optional traversal method, I liked the chase sequences, and the puzzles, but the tank fights would always get boring for me pretty fast, and the fact that there are so many tank fights only made it worse. Overall, the Arkham series was great, while I had mixed feelings on Origins and Knight, I still wouldn't call them bad games by any means, I think all the Arkham games are great in their own way, and I love them for it, but man, I don't think we'll ever get as great of a superhero video game series as this in a while, Insomniac's Spider Man remains the only hope, let's hope the upcoming sequel doesn't end up being a disappointment.

Knight was my favorite. I loved the batmobile. Its impressive how rocksteady nailed the driving mechanics on their first attempt, athough I had to get used to the questionable button mapping. The audio design for the batmobile was great too, I liked driving the dlc dark knight batmobile. The tank combat was fun imo especially when you utilize all of its gadgets to make combat sections quicker.. the only critigue I agree with about the batmobile was they shouldn't have used it for the boss fights like deathstroke. I would love a remaster of that arkham knight with ray tracing and 60 frames, and the batman 2022 skins and batmobile.

The fact that we fight Bane 3 times in Origins with each encounter being abit different and the last one as a predator challenge pff... Bane was fkng terrifying Justshows how good WBM was back then Yeah they copy and pasted many stuff from Rocksteadys games but they also did some new stuff Shame that the 2 directors who did Origins weren't there for Gotham Knights The Arkham knight DLCs were great, its been a long time since i played those but i'll never forget the Mad hatter book level and the Croc kinda horror mission And all the skins and racetracks from the old Batmen 66,89,05 RS gave us wirh their respective music Batman arkham knight with its DLC is pure Batgasm If you haven't already you should check out the Joker as playable character in Arkham Asylums challenge maps

The Scarecrow boss fights in Asylum are arguably the best of the franchise. Close 2nd would be Ra's Al Ghul and Freeze (Tied) from City. Knight boss fights were AIGHTT.... Narrative wise, it was always City for me and then I would have Origins and Asylum tied at 2nd place. Gameplay Mechs and graphical fidelity, Knight takes that cake easy. Even NOW Knight looks better than alot of games out. Overall, this franchise doesn't have a bad game at all. I would go as far as to say that as a franchise, Top 5 of all time👀👀

I do want to point something out! When it comes to the combat system of the arkham games, the combat system uses free flow as its crutch... and all of us saw how masterful it was because it fits Batman perfectly. But when it comes to what insomniac created in Spider-Man ps4? Basically, that system doesn't use free flow as a crutch... and with what they did, it has so much to do so much more. That's why i can't wait to see that Spider-Man 2 gameplay.

With the case of you can feel Batmans punches impact more than in Spiderman. I agree with you, that Spidey is way stronger than Batman. However, its the setting. Gotham is dark and more brutal. Spiderman is portrayed as PG (even some comics can be really dark) but Spidey always holds back, it was in many comics, that Spidey could kill many times if he wasnt careful, but he just holds back. Batman, because he is human and because of the atmosphere of Gotham really doesnt need to hold back, he just fucks the goons up. Both games portrayed it perfectly.

Another thing that Rocksteady got right and Insomniac didn’t was the villains. Arkham taught you about the villains through the environment of the asylum, patient interview tapes, characters bios, and memorable side missions. Insomniacs spiderman had plenty of villains but the only memorable one was Ock.

The Arkham series is timeless imo and I regularly revisit Rocksteady’s trilogy whenever I’m in the mood for some goated Batman content. That being said, my personal favourite in the series is Arkham City, but i still think the overall premise in Asylum is superior. Knight mechanically is clearly the most polished and Origins is a great game in its own right that doesn’t deserve all the flak that it receives. Here’s hoping Rocksteady knock it out of the park with Suicide Squad and maintain the same level of quality that‘s present in their Arkham games.

Just for the Joker cutscenes and the boss fights Origins is by far my favorite of the 4. City felt really dragged out imo and I thought the twist with Clay Face was lame. I knew the cleaned up Joker was fake but i expected it to be Hush lol and then Clayface is revealed as the final boss and I'm like "Oh okay" I was actually expecting the game to end off with a very sad 1v1 vs a dying Joker. Would have really made him dying even more impactful. Asylums boss fights held it back and The Arkham Knight was a flop villain, game was carried hard by Scarecrow. But the DLCs are incredibly well done.

I was in a daze for a few days after finishing Arkham City. I honestly hoped they wouldn't bring back the Joker. That was such a good ending.

The joker is technically still dead in knight but because in lore batman is just as insane as joker so if he loses himself the joker in him could take over and in city joker put his blood in him so they continued off of that which made a lot of sense.

yea lol. Scarecrow highkey carried most of arkhams knight story. H eshould of been the main villain and keep all the ''who's the arkham knight'' stuff

These Batman games are freaking dope. These games are an example of how to do a superhero game...the main blueprint and every superhero game that came out after are "Arkham" children. Story wise yeah...you can debate if it's on an elite level or not but gameplay wise...Sheesh! 🎮🇨🇦🔥

Arkham Knight was good. The problem with it was the crap boss battles, and not bringing back Paul Dini to finish the story

City > Asylum > Knight > Origins (played once tbh) I didn't have a problem with the Batmobile in Arkham Knight, the tank aspect was the real problem, out of character for Bats personally & very repetitive And no mention of that Batgirl DLC? My favourite one of the bunch, loved the creepy amusement park setting

batgirl dlc was solid too but she just feels to close to batman as far as gameplay which I was a little disappointed with. Those other two just stood out to me more overall
