I have Galerians: Rion on dvd. It came in a neon blue dvd case, came with trading cards, and the US soundtrack is all Disturbed, Korn and the like. I remember watching it back when MTV2 first launched. It's a good nostalgia trip.

Used to love this game when I was a teen. Printed off a walktru for it, this was ancient times before we had KZbin videos. Was over 100 pages & it would not stop printing!!! So much panic. Found this on eBay a few years back & bought it. *Memoriiiiies*

I genuinely love Galerians! Saw a walkthrough for it on a magazine I had when I was a kid, really wanted to play it but never found it, and got around to it as nearly an adult, much later. And honestly, for all its genuine flaws - most pointed in this video and a couple more, like how the second half of the game has almost negative exploration and the door knock puzzle is outstandingly annoying- I truly enjoyed it, and it has that *mwah, magnifique* obscure PS1 game vibe down to a T. As a fun fact, I own both the US and JP versions of the game (and Galerians:ASH for whatever that's worth (not much tbh)); the US box straight up lies to your face ("Over 50 hours of (...) gameplay!"), and the JP box is SUPER nice, comes in a nice sleeve, and comes with a little memory card holder jewel case and a tiny art book. All that for like $12 in mint condition nowadays, because Galerians is about as sought-after as syphilis.

Completely forgot about this game. The section in which you are trapped in the hotel... Or was it flats with the "crazy" selection of people rooming in stuck out for me in this game. Been a while, so you can correct me on that. This game fits more in-line with Parasite Eve series and Overblood than most traditional survival horror games, likely why they are rarely discussed within the genre. With that said, you should consider Overblood 2 if you dig the whole "Angst future with non-stop rain" seeing as many cut-scenes are heavily inspired by a certain RPG series known for its edge-worthy designs on the PS1.

Yeah there's an entire section in a hotel with weird guests. One even straight up tries to molest you. It's great. Also Overblood 2 looks right up my alley. I think I saw a video on it years ago but more or less forgot about it. Picked it up on eBay just now. Cheers mate!

If I was into such Japanese survival horror games, I'd probably get this one in a heartbeat. The art style, animations (especially those in combat), FMV sequences and the idea of it being a paranormal investigation adventure game over survival horror is right up my alley. But the controls are what always prevent me from getting into such games. The only thing that'd make me want to play this rather than see it become a point 'n' click adventure game would be its combat. I love the idea of tripping balls and blasting people with my mind, but that wouldn't work in an adventure game. It barely works here. Loved the review, and your structuring and commentary on just about every detail makes me green with envy. Damn your literary critiquing skills! But seriously good job.

It is hard for me to consider this an action game like Dino Crisis 2 or Onimusha when for much of the game you MUST avoid most combat,more than almost any survival horror I have ever played, I have had to restart the game because I killed a few too many enemies and didn't have enough to kill a boss even if I hit him every time,and I had multiple refills and have beaten almost every traditional survival horror game. Replayed this game recently and it was a great atmospheric sci fi psychological horror game,it doesn't need jumpscares to be horror.Also played up the edginess of the game for dumb comedy for the kids watching who would never play a ps1 game with fortnite out.

Got a modded PSP or PS Vita? If not you can pick up a PSP for cheep, spend all of 5 minutes building a hybrid firmware out of PRO-C 2 and Infinity and then download an Eboot for the game someone made on CD Romance. Sure, it's probably not gonna be the same experience you probably had on the OG PS1, but it beats spending $120 to get the game on top of the $80 to $100 to get an OG PS1 now

It is for PS1. If you like RE or Parasite Eve, you will probably like this one as well, although it is somewhat harder. Items are rare and few in number, and some of the boss fights can get messy.
