After watching this back I realized there was some points that I left out so I’ll leave them here. 1. The way the men, and the women in the more “affluent” areas of town totally disregarded Cherie and the way she looked (she was obviously in distress and hurt) reminded me of how women are blamed for their trauma or have to present extensive proof of what happened to them before sympathy is given and they are believed. Until then, it’s assumed to be their fault. Oh you were drunk, you dressed suggestively, you were flirting, you sleep around - all these are common reasons that women are given for why tramatic things have happened to them as if it is justified. Trey needed proof and answers before he gave empathy. Dawn did not, she could clearly see that she needed help and that was enough. 2. There were men who actually tried to help Cherie like the taxi driver, the store owner and the priest. There were many people who talked about this film and suggested that it was trying to say that all men were bad. I disagree with that take. Ethan controlled all men but the men who had good intentions still tried to protect Cherie. Only the men who were naturally bad took advantage of the situation. I think this movie did a good job with showing how women aren’t believed when things happen and are forced to be their own saviors in certain situations. It also touched on how women have to and need to band together to protect each other to create and maintain safe spaces. What are your thoughts?
@gabrielleduplessis73884 ай бұрын
Interesting perspective on your second paragraph. Will definitely watch and look for that. Based off your description, they seemed like the rare few and I always feel like the numerous bad men ruin it for the good few out there because women tend to have to weed through them to find the men with good intentions and the good men have to deal with the trauma the bad men left on them sometimes.

I am interested in seeing this now. To me, it seems while Fatal Attraction is tailored to men’s worst fears even though studies proved the opposite, this is tailored to every woman’s fear. While they exaggerated some things for drama, this is what goes through our minds whenever we are around men because we never know side we are going to get from them. There are dangerous women out there, but we run into these kind of men more than we do the dangerous women, in my opinion.

The first dog scene reminded me of when i was in college. I had a german shepherd lab. She was sweet and protective. My BF and i trained her to do different tricks but the main thing was she would scan the house or people. She was with college students alot and their dogs so tons of play. I was walking her one day and an older couple stopped and wanted to pet her. This normally happened and not a problem. I said sure and the wife pet her no problem but when her husband tried. My sweet dog started growling very low, and i watched her tail stop wagging and the hair on her back stood up. I cut the interaction short. I really believe dogs can tell something about you. I know mine could for sure. I've always wondered what that man did or what was it.

I have so many thoughts about this movie!!! . . . . . . . . 1- the demon guy, when he moves the camera to the side, I think he was SAing her. The reason I say this is because there are so many untold SA stories in the world. There is also the case of not believing the victim, or in other cases, many believe the attacker rather than the victim (As the case when she ran to the police). That is why he can turn the camera to the side, he is telling us that he controls the narrative. 2- If you look at the movie closely, for example the billboard above the MC and her ex, we can see so much respensation of women being exploded by men (this woman in laying on her back in a certain manner with the words above her head reaing NOW OPEN. which I wanna add, that picture looked alien and creepy! She could have also represented a woman giving birth. Specifically to a boy since the color is blue. Which is the wanted gender of a lot of people, specially fathers), which I am guessing is supposed to mirror how we look at women even in our society. Many of the female characters are wearing red (the MC, the friend, the s3x worker, the women at the club), the angel resides in a red temple. Plus the addition of a period. Probably the film saying that women are viewed as breeding stock and developed more than boys. And when the angel said the demon was going to go after her daughter, that made me think of the cycle of abuse that some women allow or dont allow. 3- The demon becoming violent feels very close to many men who are influenced by red pill content. How they will look at a woman and not care if she is in danger, while also being the danger themselves. And the fact that the demon controls all men feels like a play on the whole alpha and beta male thing that goes on in those spaces. 4- I believe the priest represents two things. 1- how the catholic church monitors and shames women for a lot of things. and 2- I think the priest attacking the demon might be the movie's way of saying not all men are like this and some are good in the world. I have so many thoughts from this movie, great review!!!

Ok so I just finished it! And mmaaannn it was so good! Just like you I love thrillers! Ok so I’m gonna be that paragraph guy so buckle up: Like what you said, if this is a business meeting, I would meet you at the restaurant. If it was me on the menses so much to the point where I am constantly bleeding through, I would straight up reschedule. The baby daddy also made me mad because he wanted to ask questions rather than drive. I also would have that same reaction to Cherie if I was dawn. Also when the baby sitter said she got someone else to watch the baby, I was like uh naw I need to know who this “Friend” is 😂😂 thankfully nothing bad happened to the baby. I also wondered if all the men were controlled by Ethan, I wonder what about that creep who tried to grope her on the bus? Also I read tarot cards and I know “death” has a whole like oooo dying, but the death card doesn’t actually mean death of a physical body, it means change and the death of the way things were and for new beginnings, which yeah home girl definitely got some new beginnings haha. I also thought maybe Ethan was a vampire but boy was I wrong!!! Overall I really liked this movie! Great suggestion ❤
