This was the best thing I've seen in weeks. As a Ukrainian currently living abroad I couldn't hold back tears watching my homeland filmed by my favourite youtuber during these tragic times. I was there in many places shown in the video just over a year ago, but it feels like it was in a different lifetime 😥. The football at the entrance to Irpin, the bridge over Dnipro, the streets and underground coffeeshops in Lviv... Thank you Barbs ❤

Ukraine has changed a lot over the past 10 years. 2013 - bloody Maidan, sponsored by the USA and UK. May 2, 2014 - Ukrainian nazis burned 48 people alive in Odessa. @@sweetfry Red and black flag is now the Ukrainian resistance symbol. It was originally used by the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (or Ukrains'ka Povstans'ka Armiya), which fought for the freedom of the country in 20 century. They didn't fight for ideas of Nazism - the idea beyond was to gain freedom from the Soviet Union or any other dictatorship regime in any possible way. However, some units might participate in both sides of WW2.

@@adamt-uz3og Meanings change. The earliest usage of this flag happened during the 12th century. Currently it's an unofficial war flag. Edit: This is what the Ukraine Crisis media center writes: Russian propaganda is still _demonizing_ the red-and-black flag to portray it as the symbol of Ukranian "fascism" and "nazism" used by Ukranian "far-right-nationalists" to kill Jews and Poles. In fact, the black-and-red flag is depicted in the painting "Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks" by _Ilja Repin_ , which was created back in 1880-1891 The black-and-red flag was never officially adopted as a symbol of the Ukranian Insurgent Army (UPA) and the Organization of Ukranian Nationalists. However, it was used in Ukraine's national _liberation struggle_ in the XX century The flag was actively used during the Revolution of Dignity and the Russo-Ukranian war as a _symbol of freedom_ and the fight for an independent Ukraine. As a Taiwanese, the video hit me different. It not only moved me, but also left me heartbroken. I couldn't help but cry while watching it. Ever since the war broke out in 2022, many people, including Taiwanese, have compared the international situation in Taiwan to that of Ukraine. It is difficult to imagine one's peaceful hometown turning into a war zone one day. The video showcases both the beauty of the country and the brutality of war. The Ukrainian people are incredibly brave for fighting for their country. Ukraine is an amazing country, rich in culture and history. I hope that the war ends soon, and I dream of one day visiting Ukraine. Слава Україні!

The Republic of China is a genocidal settler colonial state and Taiwan belongs to the Formosan peoples. The PRC's claim on it is completely valid, you're not a victim.

@@Enceladus2106 Yes, ROC is genocidal settler colonial state and Taiwanese people are trying to get rid of the whole "China" from both ROC and PRC. There are lots of movement to decolonized Taiwan from "China" nowadays. You can check it. Besides, the PRC government even don't recognize the Formosan people in many ways. (e.g. They prohibit people to call them indigenous people and claim them are part of southern Chinese branch instead of austronesia people) I don't get your logic . If Taiwan become part of PRC, the Formosan peoples will loss their culture and identity more quickly.

I mean me being an American born and raised here but both parents from Ukraine, has been odd for me. I always wanted to visit Ukraine to learn more about that place and my mom would always tell me stories. A lot of my relatives live there or have moved to America as well (some due to war). For me it's such an odd place to be because I don't really feel like America is my home but Ukraine I can't really call it home either. I try my best to support Ukraine by donating money and such. English though happened to be the third language I learned when I was young it was first Ukrainian, then Russian, then English. Also where I grew up and still am at is pretty ghetto and about the least place with Ukrainians. I actually speak African American Vernacular English and due to that people get shocked when I start speaking fluently Ukrainian or Russian, even Ukrainians I have met! 😂 I feel like it is a privilege though to get to experience both worlds and I think has contributed greatly in who I am today.

The part that surprises me the most is the land mines I remember as a kid seeing in the news and such about the land mines in Vietnam and how even after so long they were still a danger to the civilians I don’t think anything scares me more than the thought of just exploding suddenly while taking a walk or riding a bike through the woods i hope Ukraine wins soon and makes the beautiful woods and nature safe again good luck from America to this beautiful country 🇺🇦

This is so shocking omg. Not only I felt moved, but sad at the same time. It's heartbraking 💔 ( but what actually caught my attention the most is the histories) I'm a Malaysian, but super into European histories so much. Seeing this video rlly felt like I'm in there. The maps, buildings, statues, red and black flag, I learnt them all, but the extra infos and explanations from that Ukranian woman rlly made my day (idk I'm just, happy). Luv this video, and I'm gonna watch it again and again several times. This is now one of my fav vids list. Keep it up

My Aunt is from and grew up in Odessa, and she came to America immediately after the USSR collapsed. While most of her family got out of Ukraine just before the war started, her brother is still in Odessa. We thought he was going to be called to fight but they said they have way more than enough people fighting for them. Despite that money is tight, and stores are cleared out and we sent him money and food. We continue to pray for him and the rest of Ukraine
