​@@GetterRay Not entirely true, depending on the knockdown and forward momentum from running in to get into meaty range 6H turns into a punish even off of c.S>5H>214S. 2D and throw you can cut the run short and kill the momentum in time but many of his knockdowns you can't and so it becomes a punish. Its part of what Ky players have issue with, his stuff isn't consistent because of bad frame data and the only thing that lets him get by a lot of the time is people unaware of the situations they can actually punish, just like this example.

@@alexanderdenison2950 I would say that RTL is better than gio's super. Gio's super is more consistent damage wise but you have to be closer to the wall to get a wall break then Ky. With Gio you have to a least win neutral once to get the wall break unlike ky who can RTL from center stage. Plus RTL in the air is much better then gio's super conversion ability from the air. I do want to say that I don't think that Ky is better than gio, I think Gio is better than Ky but RTL really is one of if not the best supers in the game.

@Fletcher Christian Ky doesn't need high/low mix, and it's never been a fundamental part of his kit because Greed Sever has always been too reactable. Ky's mix is strike/throw, so what he needs is better frames in blockstrings. What you do is tick throw until your opponent begins mashing out of your pressure, at which point you switch back to strike for a frametrap, which will inherently give counter state for a large reward. So this means that Ky needs to be a little more plus. Shock state is too conditional and weak right now, as both moves that provide it are unsafe for a 3 second frame benefit that only matters if you can maintain pressure after your minus frames.

Churara is awesome. His gameplay is super entertaining. Even if you don't speak Japanese, his streams are fun to be in for his positivity and enthusiasm. That said... It's not right to call Ky strong based on Churara's playstyle. (not that I'm saying Ky is weak... I'm not) Churara is just an insanely good player who makes really good gambles on meterless vapor thrusts and stun dippers. Then when he has meter he becomes that much scarier since there's no telling when he'll throw it out. He's using a strategy that any DP character can use, just that Ky can occasionally get a combo if he lands a counter hit DP on a shock state opponent. But technically Sol and Chipp do the Churara strat better than Ky, they just have so many other strategies to pick from aside from "playing honest" so why bother? And in general I don't think any one would recommend "just run up DP" then "see your character his high tier!" It's situational. It is however a strategy that actually requires really strong fundamentals and character + player matchup knowledge if you're not playing against scrubs who never block and you want Churaras success rate. If you're going to throw out meterless DPs... you need to know where/when you might get away with it against every character and player. His opponents as a result end up respecting him to the point he can run up from half screen and throw them because they're expecting a DP. I've seen him get away with extreme nonsense. I watched him have an opponent block 2 or 3 charged stun edges in the corner.... Once you block one and the next one starts... you have like 20 frames and an up close Ky that is immobilized unless he RCs (and he doesn't have enough time to RC for the CSE to come out). He legit gets away with that because the opponent is too scared when they have no reason to be. That respect makes other moves look good. Like foudre arc... Ky has an extremely easy hurt box to hit and all the time in the world to do so. But people just don't jab him out of it. it's so slow that I can 5H (normal hit) > foudre arc. And still get jabbed out of it

This guy got away with no shock state stun dippers that were blocked against chars that could 40-60% him multiple times, non shock state Dire Eclat against multiple chars that could punish with 30-40% multiple times. He is a great player and can use Ky well, but this was literally a tournament with most of the good players banned from entering and one he got away with a ton of shit in it because many people aren't knowledgeable about a low to mid tier char they can usually run over.

Facts, you’d be surprised with just how often people even in higher ranks fail to punish a move that’s -15. Everytime someone lets me get away with stun dipper I feel like ive gotten away with murder everytime. And if you IB Dire Eclat, thats pretty much a free punish since it negates the pushback. That’s usually how lower tier characters are though, I remember in Centralfiction 1.0, I could run through and rob some games off even some of the better players with Kagura because no one really played him because he was so bad back then, so no one knew what to look for or punish, so i just abused 5DA’s armor into dash cancel, which is negative both on forward and back dash simply because people rarely ran into this character.

I mean knockdowns are valuable in this game. They can slow the pace down, put your opponent in guessing situations and/or hit your opponent with mixups. One of the best ways to get it if your opponent is blocking or is out position in the ground or the air are regular throws.
