The game was easy enough before upgrades… literally, the upgrades are a waste. They promised full scale battles yet nothing is fun except for the memes and laughs you get from references. The game is beautifully made, aesthetically speaking. Yet, it feels “empty”. I’m sure you agree… awesome looking game, cool ideas, yet the game doesn’t have the same “magic” as the old ones. For instance, there’s a part where you have to go confront Palpatine about being the Sith Lord, but the whole confrontation between Palpatine and Mace Windu/Kit Fisto is just a cutscene. You’re waiting to start having a lightsaber duel or something, but no. Nothing. You’re just back to walking to the next waypoint. Another example is the end of Return of the Jedi. The entire epic battle at the end is just a cutscene, and then that movie is just done.

Every character felt the same, the puzzles are boring, the combat is boring, and thre is this overflow of cutscenes and pointless missions that you just have to walk around to the next cutscene. Frankly, it's one of the most disappointing pieces of media I've experienced. It's staggeringly shallow, and just a poorly designed video game (as you highlighted). I could only stomach getting to Mos Espa in Ep I, after being in disbelief at the first "level" on Naboo. The time spent on the Trade Federation ship being just a corridor was disheartening, and being unable to control even basic platforming was concerning, but when one of the actual few levels was only 3 minutes long, I was done. The vast majority of the game is just getting 1000+ collectibles - typically the worst part of open-world games. And it doesn't even feel like a Lego game. It felt like I was playing Disney Infinity. I genuinely do not see what so many others did. It's probably the most overrated game I know, and the only compliments I could give are the visuals; the number of characters; and not experiencing any bugs in those 2-3 hours of play.

Now obviously there are modders who have already starting to get the basis of customization working in their games, but I think the devs at TT wanted to have customization a little more expansive than that. One of the devs said it wouldn’t have been as expansive as it was in DC supervillains, but given how the devs reported that the engine wouldn’t work with what they wanted to do with customization, I think that in the least the devs wanted to bring back more of the visual customization from DC supervillains. Mainly the option to change the colors on torsos, heads, helmets, etc.

Late but, yeah, I didn’t like this game either. It took me until Droid Factory where I was like ‘this is…very boring and tedious.’ It takes a lot for a LEGO game, which usually manage to do repetition well and creatively, to be tedious and unrewarding. I was already disappointed to find out that the only real levels in the game were ship combat or boss battles while puzzles were relegated to the overworld, it just felt awkward. Keep in mind the most recent LEGO game I played before this was Jurassic World I believe, I’ve been out of the loop for modern LEGO games, but even Incredibles has more in depth levels from what I’ve seen. I think LEGO Jurassic World (and to an effect the other games released near that time) balanced level and overworld perfectly, while Skywalker Saga has too much overworld and not enough level. I heard the game wasn’t really designed for people to start with the Prequels and that the Original and Sequels are much better which…why tho. Of course some fans would want to start in chronological order, you don’t have an excuse to half a** an entire third of the game. In LEGO Jurassic World, if you want, you can either continue Jurassic Park and play the Lost World and III, or you can immediately start Jurassic World from the beginning if you really don’t want to wade through the first 3 movies. I recommend you do though since the first three movies have some very fun levels and character abilities to collect items later, but the game was clearly designed for you to either start from the beginning or start in Jurassic World, thus they give you an option and tutorials are present in both Jurassic Park and Jurassic World and both have equal amounts of effort and creativity; if anything, Jurassic Park has more creativity than Jurassic World in its first few levels, mainly because there’s more characters and abilities but that’s besides the point. So yeah, I bought Skywalker Saga and all its DLC (unfortunately), played up to Episode II, realized I wasn’t having fun at all and nothing felt satisfying to do, uninstalled it and never touched it again as it gathers dust in my Steam library somewhere.

You have a good point about the Droidekas. In Skywalker Saga the enemies are pointless. They are no challenge and are all the same as each other. You just mindlessly gun/slash them down. Including the Droideka, who in the Complete Saga was a very creatively designed enemy that you had to adopt a specific strategy for to beat. The Complete Saga is a much better game. The Skywalker Saga is more of a compilation of cutscenes and pretty locations to run around in.
@jaydonmagan46942 жыл бұрын
What do you mean? You destroy the Droidekas in Skywalker Saga the same way you do in Complete Saga. Slash at their shields under they’re broken. Or double jumped and slash down to destroy them in one hit. That’s how it is in every LEGO Star Wars game with Droidekas. The only thing that’s changed about the Droidekas is there design in the games.
@jaydonmagan46942 жыл бұрын
@@blachbird067 Droidekas take five hits to take down in Complete Saga. They can be one hit by doing the diving lightsaber attack. They can also be damaged faster by deflecting their blaster fire back at them. All of this you can still do in Skywalker Saga. Though I haven’t used the diving thing on them yet in the game. I’ll still have to see if that one-hits their shield or if it no longer does that for Skywalker Saga. Also, durability is not the same thing as strength. All of the Droidekas in these games have the same amount of strength. Their shielding is not apart of that strength. Their shielding is protection; a way for them to last longer. Strength is what you can dish out against your opponent while durability is how long you can last. From what I’ve seen, Droidekas go down in four hits this time around. Three hits for when their shield is blue and one hit for when their shield is red. But they still go down the same way and attack the same way as they have done in every other LEGO Star Wars game they have appeared in. At least in main consoles. I’m not sure about app games. Having their shields last longer doesn’t really make the Droidekas more difficult as it does making it a bit more redundant to fight them using regular swings or blaster attacks. And again, there’s that diving attack that one-shots their shield in the previous games, making it far easier to destroy Droidekas than going about the simpler route. Not to mention that in Complete Saga when you destroyed their shielding, Droidekas could not reactivate it. But in Skywalker Saga Droidekas can reactivate their shielding if you don’t attack them quick enough.
@jaydonmagan46942 жыл бұрын
@@blachbird067 I played the game yesterday on IPad. The diving slash attack is double jump then slash down your lightsaber. It one hits their shield every time. You’re the one not remembering here. Do the diving attack on Complete Saga the next time you play it. Remember, double jump, then slash down. Everyone who’s beaten Complete Saga knows this. Also, I never said it one hits a Droideka. I said it one hits their shield. You still have to attack the Droideka after taking out their shield.
@mrboost41862 жыл бұрын
@@jaydonmagan4694 I disagree. You can't mindlessly slash away at Droidekas in Complete Saga and get away with it. You know that isn't how you beat them. You will just keep dying. You have to figure out the efficient way to beat them, like you say: double jumping and doing the ground pound attack to break their shields. It's not like they were super difficult to beat but you had to actually think. In the Skywalker Saga you can just hack and slash at them and they die like any other enemy. You can't deny it it's just true. I had no idea their shields regenerate, so they clearly die too quickly for it to matter.
@jaydonmagan46942 жыл бұрын
@@mrboost4186 Yes, you can hack and slash at Droidekas the slow way, regardless if you die or not because it’s a LEGO game and you can just respawn. I’ve done it before. Anyone who was a kid and first played Complete Saga has done it before. And the issue isn’t that they die too fast. You only think that because of how fast we attack using our characters here as opposed to Complete Saga. In Complete Saga, each lightsaber strike was more moderately slow in speed, meaning when fighting a Droideka it would take a while to take down the shielding by going the normal route, disregarding the diving slash here. But in Skywalker Saga, the rate in which we can attack has increased, allowing us to attack much faster than before as the only thing that would slow your movement is how fast your hitting your attack button. It takes four hits to destroy a Droideka’s shield in Skywalker Saga, but since we can attack much faster than before, it seems like the Droidekas are weaker. The truth is that the Droidekas are not weaker. They took away one less hit to take down their shielding and traded it for the ability to regenerate their shield. The fact of the matter is that any character you use, especially Jedi and Sith, have been designed to attack better. So realistically, your complaint isn’t about the Droidekas, but about how fast we can attack in the game.

This man goes in depth on the tutorial because it pauses the game for not even a second, THAT IS WHAT TUTORIALS DO IN ANY GAME EVER MADE. He says he doesn’t mind too much change but then complains about EVERY SINGLE THING that is different from the original. I’ll answer the final question for you “Why is this Lego?” It’s Lego because if it wasn’t everyone would be complaining and trying to make things canon, also you can’t have the LEGO humor in any other game, and you can’t have the silliness in the side quests and characters and story that make this game really feel like it’s unique. There’s little to no building, there’s little to no puzzles (if you can call those stupid computer panels puzzles) and there are only about 6 different abilities (most relating to computer panels) which makes each character feel pretty much the same as every other one (they clearly went for quantity over quality).

The main story missions are pretty lackluster, while some missions are very well put together, others are just missions to get you to the next cutscene. Personally, had they just remade the old levels, made the new ones for the new movies, and given us a general home base. That would have completely okay with me. I’m not sure trying to add RPG elements to a lego game was a good idea… but on the other hand a lot of Your points were incredibly nitpicky. Mostly You complained how it’s different from the OG game and therefore worse - me personally - I don’t care how I kill droidekas and I enjoyed the hints to the original as well as the voice acting - it was a bit childish at times, but that’s the humour I came for to a lego game. Plus some of the new elements were awesome! You could do side missions loosely connected to the story, which unlike in the original added a lot more to do than just play the levels again even though they were great! This game has a lot to offer when You don’t try to compare it to the original. They’re just two different genres. In the end this Lego game is far from the best of the franchise, but also far from the worst. On the plus side, I think this is still my favorite Lego Star wars game they made despite it's flaws.

I remember when I first played lego star wars. My mom who grew up watching those movies got me this game for Christmas when I was 8. It ended up taking us 3 months to beat with my moms work schedule at the time. Now that I have kids of my own who love star wars, I was thrilled to hear when they were gonna be remaking the lego star wars games. To my disappointment, I felt like some of the magic was lost and it didn't feel like a lego game. Way too much time walking to trigger cutscenes only to trigger cutscenes, thats not gameplay. I felt bored and my kids did too. At least they love lego marvel superheros 1 and 2 so, not all hope is lost.

There are mini rewards for filling each meter of the true Jedi bar. Each meter you fill gives you a kyber brick

I'm pretty sure there is a mini reward for filling in each of the three True Jedi bars... Doing so earns you three Kyber Bricks, one for each section.

Yep. Each mission gives 6 Kyber Bricks. 1 for basic completion on Story mode for the first time, 1 for doing all 3 challenges for the mission, 1 for getting all 5 minikits, and 1 for every 1/3rd of the True Jedi bar you fill up.
