It's because they can actually digest the high amounts of fiber and nutrients in the rind and humans and other animals can't. It's pretty cool actually. In the wild they even eat the lichen from plants and trees which is normally inedible to most mammals -- or rather, indigestible. Humans can't digest fiber but we still eat it for digestive regulation.

The claps he does for the food, like a human would do for any type of ball, right at the beginning of the video, is the best! He does it a couple times throughout the video. I love how the males have like a curly mustache without the full mustache! Lol The blue hue in their coloring is so pretty. And how they are to live in the coldest areas, their nose is close up against their heads so it doesn’t get frostbit. Also the long hair with their thick furry bodies....it’s just all so beautiful. 😍😍😍 I love how this guy talks to them. Like when the male hid a piece of orange in his foot. Lol He kept touching it and the monkeys like, ‘I’m saving that for later!’ Lol Then when the younger one slipped and he started giggling! Lol You can tell he enjoys them. Especially when he hums while hanging out with them. I love these videos!

Loved it when the monkey clapped his hands, meaning he wanted food. Somewhat sloppy was the way he ate the hardboiled egg along with part of the shell, or part of the tangerine peel along with the fruit. The golden snub nose is my favorite type monkey..my favorite ape is the orangutans, and I would love to know if the golden snub nose could not just survive but thrive in Yellowstone or Alaska considering this member of the primate family lives the trees and is used to seeing snow, and they eat manny plants and fruits followed by vines and insects.
