It shouldn't matter who you want to get. Secret santa is about getting who you get even if you don't normally hang out with them and being thoughtful in your gift. You get to know that person. Learn about their likes during the year and you'll end up becoming closer to them and learn new things about them.😊

This tradition is always so fun to watch!!! For the kitchenware situation, I know there’s a lot of you, but you could get colored/decorated sets, each one assigned to a kid, and make them responsible for their own sets. It’d make them accountable and hopefully stop them from throwing them away, once you have a way of knowing who’s doing it

Maybe get each kid their own dishes and cutlery? For someone to throw out dishes may show that they aren't aware of the cost when you keep replacing it and it isn't fair on you either financially-wise 😢 Maybe have a family meeting to ask them to be aware of it costing money? As for price stickers, sellotapes etc - buy isopropyl alcohol solution or wipes. Put on rag, hold against any sticky stuff for a minute and wash off. Don't use paper towels as they fall to pieces when wet.

Just a suggestion... the bowls were in lovely colours. You could get 6 each of 6 different colours... that would be 36 bowls and add a lot of fun for your joint family dinners with the cousins

Hi Shelly, I see someone else also has the same idea, but a catering supplier has very reasonable prices on tableware. I had the same issue when mine were at home. They all had their own cup, plate, bowl and deep plate. They were all different so everyone knew their own and couldn’t grab someone else’s. They then had to know where their own things were and wash and dry them and put them away. Cutlery was the same. I put their names on everything with an engraver. Bottom line. Only the two boys were throwing out dishes. The girls weren’t, so graduated to ‘good’ dishes and the boys stayed with their own ‘naughty boy plates’. ❤

I think Mindy sounds like aunt Bonnie when she laughs. Aubrey did such an amazing job on the fortune cookies. Stressful. I remember using fortune cookies in seventh grade when we were studying other countries and I made a bunch and ring them so my teacher got one told her to be easier on us and give us good grades basically she caught and she wasn’t fooled.

The fortune cookies need to be handled right away and quick using a spoon to help shape is the best way. I have made them a few times and it's easy but just have to move fast.
